All the Dually Trucks You Can Buy in Canada in 2025

by Stephanie Wallcraft

Dually trucks are unique within the auto industry. Unlike other segments like SUVs or sedans, there’s truly no other option if you need what a dual-rear-wheel (DRW) truck provides. Since they have four wheels on the rear axle instead of two, they’re built for the very toughest payload and towing jobs. In exchange, dually owners expect to give up high-tech features and luxury interiors in favour of capability.

Fortunately, today’s dually trucks don’t require as much compromise. They come in lower-priced work truck formats as well as more premium setups, giving owners more options than ever. All dually trucks now come with features like Bluetooth and a government-mandated backup camera. That’s not to say the field is wide, though. The Detroit Three automakers make up the entirety of the dually truck market.

With that in mind, we present here a list of all the dually trucks you can buy in Canada in 2025. We’ve also included a look at the powertrains you can choose from as well as each truck’s capabilities. What we can’t cover is confirmed fuel economy ratings since Natural Resources Canada doesn’t rate heavy-duty trucks. However, fuel consumption is important to consider when deciding whether you truly need a one-ton truck. If you regularly tow a large trailer like 35-foot camper or a horse trailer, you’ll find a dually heavy duty is the best truck for your needs. But running a dually pick-up costs much more at the pumps, so consider whether a full-size or three-quarter-ton truck can handle your needs before you decide.

Pricing includes destination charges and dealer fees but excludes options and sales taxes. While they were current at time of publication, prices are subject to change.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD LTZ

Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD

Chevy launched a refreshed version of its Silverado heavy-duty trucks for 2024, along with the closely related but more upmarket GMC Sierra 3500 HD. On the Chevy side, the Silverado 3500 HD dually is available in Canada with the long bed and either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD) in regular, double cab, or crew cab configurations. Integrated bed steps are standard, and the Multi-Flex tailgate (which is the same as GMC’s Multi-Pro tailgate) is optional.

The base engine is a gas-powered 6.6-litre V8 producing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The engine is a carryover from the previous model, but it’s now matched with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission that does a better job of managing that power. A 6.6-litre turbodiesel V8 is optional, and power is up this year to 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque. The diesel continues to be paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic. With the latter engine, a Silverado 3500 HD dually can tow up to 16,329 kilograms (36,000 pounds).

Pricing in Canada starts at $69,233 for a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado HD WT (work truck) trim regular-cab dually with the gas engine. In this truck, features are basic with standard vinyl or available cloth seats, and a 7-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. With the crew-cab High Country and the diesel, you reach the top price tag of $115,628. At this level you receive standard leather with multiple upgrade options, heated front and outboard rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a larger 8-inch infotainment system, and more.

The new Silverado HD has up to 15 different camera views of a trailer, and it also supports connection with a smartphone app where you can input the specifics of your trailer to adjust truck and trailer settings.

2025 Ford F-350 Super Duty Preview - summary

Ford F-350 and F-450

Ford also recently redesigned its HD trucks and introduces a new generation for the 2023 model year. Ford offers some things other automakers don’t such as aluminum body panels, which bring down the truck’s weight and improve fuel economy.

The dual-wheel configuration is offered on the Ford F-350 Super Duty and Ford F-450 Super Duty and available in a variety of trims and cabin configurations. For 2023, four new engine choices are offered on various trims. The base engine is now a 6.8-litre gas-powered V8 producing 400 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. Buyers can upgrade to a 7.3-litre gas-powered V8 with 430 hp and 485 lb-ft of torque, or one of two Power Stroke 6.7-litre turbodiesel V8s. The standard output diesel truck produces 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque, while the high-output version makes 500 hp and a whopping 1,200 lb-ft of torque. The F-450 is available only with the regular or crew cab and only with the two diesel engines. With all engines, power is routed through a 10-speed automatic transmission to either RWD or 4WD.

The new Ford Super Duty boasts some impressive maximum towing figures. Maximum available gooseneck towing is 18,143 kilograms (40,000 pounds) in the F-450 pickup with the regular cab, high-output diesel engine, and max towing package, making it one heck of a hauler. Max payload capacity with the F-450 is 3,628 kilograms (8,000 pounds). With the F-350 dually, peak gooseneck towing is 17,236 kilograms (38,000 pounds). The F-450 also offers the best available fifth-wheel towing rating of 15,875 kilograms (35,000 pounds) and best available conventional towing of 13,607 kilograms (30,000 pounds). The F-350 dually offers best-in-segment conventional towing of 12,700 kilograms (28,000 pounds), and Ford also claims best-in-class ratings for its off-road variants.

Numerous technologies are available to make towing easier, including Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, which steers the truck to align the hitch ball to the receiver. The optional Smart Hitch helps drivers properly distribute trailer weight, and a 360-degree Trailer Camera Package gives drivers a bird’s-eye view of the truck, cargo box and trailer. Another helpful feature is Pro Power Onboard, which installs high-output power outlets in the cab and bed. Super Duty trucks come equipped with Ford Pro Upfit, which assist with integrating power equipment such as plows, cranes, and lights.

In Canada, pricing for 2024 Ford F-350 dual rear wheel (DRW) trucks starts at $64,720 and rises to $129,360 for the Limited trim. For the 2024 Ford F-450 DRW, pricing starts at $80,354 for a regular-cab XL and tops out at $133,120 for the Limited, the top trim that sits above XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. GMC Sierra 3500HD

Like the Chevy Silverado HD, the GMC Sierra HD trucks were refreshed for 2024. While capability is on par with the Silverado, the Sierra can be thought of as a luxury version, particularly the Sierra HD Denali with its premium styling and finishes. It also comes with standard integrated bed steps.

The same engines are offered: a gas-powered 6.6-litre V8 producing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, newly offered with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission, or an optional 6.6-litre turbocharged Duramax diesel V8 with 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque and a 10-speed automatic. With the latter engine, a Sierra 3500 HD dually can tow up to 16,329 kilograms (36,000 pounds).

GMC also offers plenty of helpful towing features, including up to 15 camera views and a rear camera accessible through the rearview mirror. One unique feature is the ProGrade trailering system, which offers status updates for service intervals, tire pressure, and wiring connections in addition to the ability to adjust vehicle and trailer settings.

The GMC Sierra 3500 HD is available with the brand’s Multi-Pro tailgate. This is a six-way multi-function tailgate with several different modes, from a bed extender to a helpful set of stairs.

Pricing for the 2025 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty starts at $71,533 for the dually Pro with RWD and a regular cab. The highest price comes with the range-topping Denali Ultimate trim. Available with 4WD only, it includes leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, and unique inserts, all set around a 13.4-inch GMC Premium touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and Google built-in. To secure this truck, you’ll need to commit to the diesel engine and put down $134,033.

2025 Ram 3500 Preview - summary

Ram 3500 HD

Ram isn’t to be left behind: the brand also revamped its heavy-duty truck line-up for the 2023 model year. Ram’s trucks have a reputation for offering better on-road comfort and handling than the competition.

The Ram 3500 HD comes standard with a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 producing 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque, equipped with cylinder deactivation for better fuel economy and paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. With this engine, maximum towing is 8,260 kilograms (18,210 pounds). A 6.7-litre Cummins inline-six turbodiesel engine is also offered, available in two output levels. The standard 6.7-litre produces 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and can tow up to 10,278 kilograms (22,660 pounds). The high-output version makes 420 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque, matched with an AISIN heavy-duty six-speed automatic. When properly equipped, this engine extends the Ram 3500 HD’s maximum towing capacity to 16,823 kilograms (37,090 pounds).

Ram offers a dial-based Trailer Reverse Steering Control system for 2023 that assists with backing up a trailer. New telescoping trailer tow mirrors are available, as are blind spot monitoring with trailer extension and new camera views. A trailer monitoring system can provide status for tire pressure and trailer lights from the driver’s seat.

Ram offers the 3500 HD with regular cab, crew cab, and Mega Cab configurations. Pricing for the dually version of the 2024 Ram 3500 HD starts at $65,810 for a RWD 2024 Ram 3500 Tradesman with the regular cab. It climbs to a starting price of $108,315 for the 2024 Ram 3500 Limited Diesel dually, which is the top trim and sits above the Ram 3500 Big Horn, Laramie, and Limited Longhorn.
