When car is on Parking the engine runs fine but once its put on shift engine shuts off

Sounds to me like your transmission is going out. Might want to take it in before it dies completely. Dump some seafoam in it from autozone and let it run on each gear for a few minutes. Then take it to a shop. That just happen.ed to me

huh! your toque converter clutch is stuck on, not releasing, snip the clutch wire by golly its an old car and who needs that malfunctioning type of scrap anyway
