Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1987 Ford f-150 six
cylinder some one has put a push
button in it I don't if the ignition is
bad or it to keep some one from
taking the truck you turn the key
to get power then hit the button
to turn the starter but it seems
like it's not firing. Also
pressurized fuel system is it
supposed to run like the fuel
pump I noticed it has a positive
and negative wire ran to it
because when it started doing
this I looked and the negative
wire was off I put it back on and it
started drove it 30to40mile still
died.

Does the starter motor crank the engine? Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Have helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse, where applicable. If somebody did some rewiring on your vehicle, I'd check the basics, fuel--spark--whatever.
