1997 Dodge Dakota, won't start

Once when I tried starting my truck, I got a small 'click' but nothing, when I turned the key.  A co-worker found that the battery cables were too big, not making a tight, secure connection to the post.  I redrilled a couple of holes in the connector to make it more snug but now I'm having the same problem.  Just in case, I bought a new battery but a week after I bought the battery, I still have the same problem.  The positive battery terminal was replaced today but still it has the same problem.  I was thinking of replacing the negative terminal today, but just in case this doesn't fit the problem, what else could it be??

Thanks. I was thinking that the alternator wasn't charging the battery correct after it would come one, so maybe I'll charge my battery and retry wtih the new connectors. Thanks!

if you can get it jump-started, take it to an auto parts store and have them check your charging system.
