Overheating

Radiator fan not running? Try to 40amp (big orange fuse) under the hood, drivers side.

If its not the fuse, then check the power to the connector on the fan. On our 96 sebring, the fan has 2 speeds. One speed no longer worked so I had to re-wire the connector to the fan so its always on. Not a big deal until winter comes but plabn to change the fan.

So others mechanical geniuses like me will know... The water pump is bad. When this, or any other cause for the cooling system not to hold sufficient cooling fluid occurs, the fan will not run because it isn't getting a signal saying the fluid (which isn't there) is getting too hot. Apparently the same cause for the temp gauge not working properly, but I will check this out after I replace the pump. The way to temporarily manage this is to carry around two gallons of water with you. Before starting the engine, fill cooling system completely. If you drive long enough to start having heating problems (probably around 10 miles), you'll have to stop, let engine cool down and then add more water. Unless you wish to drive in short increments and sit for a while between each one, I suggest at this point, you turn around and head straight home.
