Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Maybe a dumb ? I just bought a Subaru
Forester 2009 wondering if it's normal
between 35 and 40 miles per hour for it to
kick into 2nd gear? Used to driving a 6
cylinder not sure about this thanks

The rpm that transmission shifts up depends on the load on the engine. At light throttle what RPM does it shift from 1st to 2nd gear?

5,000 rpm? That is not normal for a light throttle up shift. Full throttle acceleration should shift at that engine speed. I would have a transmission mechanic look at it.
