2007 cobalt

Asked by heavydiesel Apr 09, 2018 at 12:52 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt LT Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just replaced the master cylinder, and both
calipers and cylinders, I bled  the system and have
a steady stream at each bleeder, but I noticed that
with the eng off I have a firm pedal and eng
running almost nothing. Any tips on what I might
be missing? Thanks in advance.

No pedal pressure or no brakes? Did you test drive it? Heavy pressure with the engine off would be normal.

The car stops but the pedal is low, the brake booster is functioning normal. Asking around I'm thinking there's an air bubble in the ABS pump module. Gonna try a pressure bleeder at a shop. Could a faulty ABS pump cause a low pedal? Gummed up ports or valves maybe?

Most likely something like air in the system. Like everything else on modern cars, nothing is as simple as it used to be including bleeding the brakes. Having a properly equipped shop do it is a wise idea.

Ya, I think I'm at that point now, I work for a Peterbilt dealer, ASE's and factory trained, etc. I'm just used to air brakes and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something stupid before I pay shop rates. Thanks again
