If the mounts r okay also, remember that a certain amount of "clunk" noise is acceptable and as the tranny ages, the clunks get worse. When you put the tranny in gear, you put the valve body into motion with directs fluid pressure to servos, which push on bands which trap/stop drums full of clutch packs from turning or begin turning, which load down the oil pump n torque converter, which impacts the crankshaft...so on n so forth. Chack the fluid level while in neutral n give it a sniff n a looksee...how's it look/smell? Red-pink, hydraulic fluid smell, or burnt? Is there what looks like glitter in the fluid on the stick?
