Reduced engine power

Asked by Kimi2018 Sep 08, 2018 at 03:14 PM about the 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My reduced engine power light came on while on
expressway. I have a hole in my muffler which seems to be
getting louder. The other day while accelerating onto e-way
the car would not pick up speed. Today I was going 80, light
came on then car slowed down to 60. I got off and shut off
car. Started up after a few seems fine but only drove maybe
45mph or less. Could it be vacuum related? Help please!!!

Car needs to have code read. Possible take it to a GM dealer for diag. But the problem may get to be expensive.

Could be as simple as a clogged catalytic converter. Simple to diagnose at a muffler shop but replacement will set you back a few hundred.
