Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a used Lexus and when I test drove it, there were no lights that
came on. The second time I drove it, the VSC and CEL lights came on. The
third time I drove it, the battery light came on. The fourth time I drove it, the
battery light did not come on. The VSC and CEL lights are still on. Each of
these drives were less than 10 minutes.
I made sure the gas cap was on because I read that as a suggestion when
the VSC and CEL lights came on but didn't work.

Any idea what could be going on?

I had similar problem with a 1999 ES300. My mechanic discovered that there are several "Grounding Points" for the system. He cleaned them "All", and the problem went away. Google those "Points", and good luck. There is a Main Ground for the Negative battery cable. Start There.

update - i took it to autozone and they did a battery check and it said bad battery. the diagnostic codes were related to o2 sensor, but i decided to just replace the battery and hope the lights didn't come on. unfortunately, after replacing the battery the both VSC and CEL came back on...any suggestions?
