2010 CRV

Asked by GuruCXB5T Feb 14, 2019 at 09:07 AM about the 2010 Honda CR-V

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car key has the key fob built in to the key.  Can a dead/dying battery in the
key fob keep the car from starting? Car battery is strong.  It does not have a
push button to start - you turn the key in the ignition.

Thank you Ed92626. I have replaced the battery with the hope of that being my problem- Batteries Plus tested it and told me it had <10% life left. Followup questions: 1-I did not notice it being low, aka it still unlocked the doors, and it did not give me any indication (that I noticed) that it was trying to tell me it was low. I did not have to reprogram the car to the key. How does the fob battery tell me to replace it? 2-My car would 'turn over' - car battery was strong, but it just wouldn't go on and start. I was told that a weak battery in the key fob (which is part of the key I stick in the ignition / no start button in my model) could prevent the car from starting. Is that true?
