"check engine light"

Asked by Guru1K92T Sep 17, 2019 at 10:54 AM about the 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

our 2010 chevy cobalt has 104,073 miles. The 'check engine' light is on intermittently, stating "low engine power"  The car exelerates smoothly, but then (this morning) the engine threatened to seize up. We stopped for a second, waited a minute. The rest of the ride was better. We have never tuned it up. Could that be it.

what do the plugs look like ? how about the oil ? air filter ? you can't just put gas in them and expect it to keep running

Scan it for trouble codes. There are probably some clues stored in the car's computer.
