2008 Altima with salvage title - worth?

Asked by GuruDW5XQK Apr 24, 2024 at 12:37 PM about the 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

2008 Altima had hail damage and Insurance paid me $4K - now salvage title.
How much is this worth to sell (180,000 miles).

With salvage title, it's worth zero. The car's too old for anyone to mess with. They'd have to put more into the car than it could possibly ever be worth. If you're industrious, you might part it out yourself, but that isn't easy for a novice.

If the damage is not too severe you may be able to just have the vehicle inspected by your State Division of Motor Vehicles so you can get a rebuilt title. By doing this you can register and drive the vehicle just like you did before it was damaged. But if the damage is moderate to severe, such as broken glass, severely dented body panels, etc., junk it and move on. Also keep in mind a 16 year old vehicle with 180,000 miles on it and a salvage title history isn't going to be an easy sell. Jim
