What are the most general problems on a mini cooper

Basically, it's the bulk of the car. They're terrible cars and as owners tend to be young and irresponsible, maintenance is hit-or-miss. Have any car you're serious about buying reviewed by a mechanic prior to purchase, and I'm sure that any mechanic will either refuse to look at a Mini or he'll give you a list of defects that's really long.
