The spar you saw probably wasn't the only one. Check for blown fuses. You might have snapped the main in the power distribution box under the hood, and several others. After you replace fuses, you might be OK.
While I don't know exactly where this particular problem lies, I can tell you when I forgot to disconnect my battery and changed out my downstream 02 sensor with Acc on (I was listening to the radio while working on my car... duh!), it blew the fuel pump fuse (to prevent the car from starting without the 02 sensor). I thought I blew the computer even tho there was no sparking. I went thru everything and talked to everyone in the know. Only upon closer inspection I did find the blown fuse using continuity. I now have installed all smart fuses that actually light up when they blow for easy IDing. The Japanese are very intelligent when it comes to wiring, and do a good job at protecting the ECU from simple mistakes like these, so it's prolly something simple you just overlooked. Just sayin'.
DROP THE TOOLS AND STEP AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE!!!! Wow, you should have had a mechanic work on your car.
