There are a hundred reasons why an engine won't start and one of them is a bad battery, which you should check before you're certain that it's good. A novice can check for loose/corroded battery cable connections. But beyond that, you should have a mechanic diagnose this. On a twenty-three year old truck, it could be a bad starter switch, starter/solenoid, battery cable, voltage regulator, or other electrical items. It could be engine related, like poor compression, failing spark, or failing fuel system.

Are the headlights nice and bright ? Is there any noise from the starter when you hit the key ? Batt cables clean and tight ?
