What could be wrong with my car?

Asked by William Feb 23, 2023 at 07:23 PM about the 2000 Acura TL 3.2 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When stopped at a traffic light my cars gauge
would drop to zero, gas gauge drops to empty,
temperature gauge drops to cold, brake light
comes on and the maintenance light flashes 7-8
times, the car stalls out and won’t turn back on?

Sounds like an intermittent electrical open. Things to check, main power distribution box, main power and ground wires for corrosion and bad connections, loose connections especially at the ignition switch and battery /charging system.

Crank sensor or computer failing scan system hard code will be there, NOTE: some codes are created by original failure causing other systems to malfunction.. Flashing mil light is almost always misfire related.. If dist equipped pick up unit failure. If it restarts cold and runs fine till warm there's your issue. Computer codes such as checksum error, or no communication are always a computer replacement issue.

Sounds like a bad ground. If you have an aftermarket stereo check there first. Hope that helps! Jim
