Ignition lock cylinder replacement

Asked by Guru9J59GQ Apr 20, 2023 at 12:08 PM about the 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8 S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Does a new ignition lock cylinder work with

original key or does it work only with a new key

It will only work with a new key. The keys are cut so that when you put it in the lock the tumblers will line up and you can turn the lock cylinder to start the engine. If there's a security system involved the new key will have to be programmed to the vehicle by either a locksmith or your local Nissan Dealer. Hope that helps! Jim
