How do I determine if I need to replace the starter button and /or the starter

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When pushing the starter switch the car may not start and acts as if the battery
in dead.   After pushing the starter button 5 or 6 times the car will start.  The
battery is new

scan for codes , see if you can hook up with the computer because a bad one may be the problem . You need a multi tester to see if that switch is good , That's what I think
