Bought mine used in 2021. Had 76k and now has 130k. Awesome vehicle. Maintenance is key along with common sense. Besides a couple of minor and mid range repairs, the car has been absolutely awesome and is well worth the money. Has a lot of character and is fun and comfortable for everyday driving. Will be driving well past 200k.Aug 23, 2023

I like the car’s features and it’s one of the only wagons available now that Ford had stopped selling the Focus wagon. I particularly like the idea of a diesel.Jul 12, 2023

This car drives and runs great I get over 40 mpg on the highway. I was recently involved in an accident in one like this and the safety features are exceptional. I was hit broadside by another vehicle and did not sustain any life threatening injuries due to the side air bag systme. It is also a very comfortable auto to drive and has amazing room for a car this size. Nov 10, 2022

This is a great roomy car, great has mileage, dsg transmission is smooth and has extremely fast shifting.
Bad blind spots, small center console, and similar models are about $5,000 more than what the car should actually be worth. May 23, 2022

This car is a must have for any household. It is a perfect combination of utility, comfort, reliability. It is also a fun to drive and handles no less than VW Golf. I made 110k in 3 years and never had a single issue with it. It is also looks, sounds and drives exactly the same as it did 110k ago. The engine is non-turbo 5 cyl. and does not require a premium fuel, also really fuel efficient. Too bad they discontinued this engine in a newer cars. In conclusion, if you will find one still in good condition - grab it.Feb 23, 2021

Enjoyable car to drive and very usable cargo space. Seemed like a near-ideal balance between cargo and overall size. (Note: I sold this car back to VW as part of Dieselgate.)
The TDI engine seemed great until the emissions scandal exposed that it wasnt meeting the emissions standards. The 6-speed manual shifter is excellent, and the clutch take-up is OK — marred by a line restrictor that doesnt reward quick shifts.
The electric steering rack makes steering feel numb, though its accurate and adequately quick. With 17 wheels theres plenty of grip for enthusiastic driving, though understeer dampens the fun beyond 7/10ths. Ride quality is quite good.
Interior quality is good, though it falls a little short of my previous Jetta.
I miss this car!Feb 08, 2021

This car is my first german car! I always stuck with japanese cars for their reliability, but I heard about the amazing TDI technology and decided to try! First of all the car is so much fun to drive! It has power, road grip like nothing else! 50+ mpg on highway is impressive. and I used to own a prius before - no comparison! It has storage and comfort to be jealous of! Haven't had to fix it yet. so no comment on that yet!Apr 16, 2015

We have this car for 2 yrs and we love it. They improve the heating so on cold days the car gets warmer fast. Cargo space is good. Gas consumption average 7.7 this last cold winter on mostly city driving. We have the model with panoramic sunroof (as if the driver looks at the stars when driving) and you can hear high the noise from the roof box(if mounted).
I find annoying the maintenance schedule for DSG transmission, every 60k and is not cheap, so go with the manual transmission.
We have 2 kids and we can carry lots of things :). Handling is great and controls are nicely organized. Good acceleration when required and even at high speed the engine is responsive.Mar 11, 2015

Drives like a german sedan with tons of cargo space; smooth ride, comfortable seats. Mileage could be better; 5 cylinder engine sounds gruff and noisy at startup. I've owned this car for 39 months, and no issues- just a new battery.May 11, 2014

This is a perfect car for driving to soccer games, or taking family road trips. The car handles excellently, has great fuel economy, and has a lot of options even in the base model. I love the gas mileage we get both in town and on the freeway. My wife loves the bluetooth connection to her iPhone so she can take a legal call in the car. I can't find any negatives. Dec 30, 2013

Over all I really like this car and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants high MPG and does not want to drive a little crappy car. Why would someone buy a tiny car that is not made very well or does not drive very well when they could get a VW like the Sportwagon TDI.Jun 12, 2013

So far I have almost 5000 miles on her and she has given me 36 mpg around town. I love the sunroof, it is huge! Sirius stereo is great! The engine is pretty muscular with so much torque, I surprise quite a few people with how quick this car can take off! I have loads of room, it is very comfortable, and it gets great mpg, What else would you need? I can't wait to see how it does on a roadtrip! Supposedly after the engine passes the 10000 mile breakin period it will be able to get 50+ mpg!Dec 18, 2012

Fantastic fuel economy, can easily get 42 mpg on road trips ie 500 miles for a small top up of 12 gals. Very nippy in the city, its quick off the mark due to the high torque figures at low rev, it will fly off at the traffic light. Feels much faster than the 8+ secs for 0-60mph listed on the specs. Kids love the giant moonroof, one of the biggest out there. Good size boot space, can take in a stroller and kids bicycles with no problems. Extremely good 10 speaker sound system, probably a notch below to the Dynaudio or new Fender sound systems. Bonus - It can play music from a SD card as well.Feb 03, 2012

Sunroof/17" alloy wheels, protection package.
Personal story - I had a 'not at fault' head-on 'totaled' collision in a 2010 JSW. Engine absolutely smashed, passenger compartment remained unchanged. Walked away virtually unscathed. I immediately bought another one and tell all of my friends about this car. New one is salsa red/black. Love it.Apr 03, 2011
