This is a middle*aged car, so I didnt expect miracles. But actually, Im very pleased SO FAR. Im impressed by the bells and whistles that Id missed by driving a cheap and basic SUV for 14 years, but thats not a property of this specific model.
Mine has dark tinted glass everywhere but the windshield. Not sure if thats legal in CA. The A-pillar has such an extreme slant that its necessary to look through the side glass to make a turn safely. The tinting and the very weak lo beams make driving at night quite unsafe, in my opinion.
Ill know more after Ive driven it for a while. Jan 04, 2022

Car is a good value. However, the interior package it came with was not as nice as my (current) 2012 Prius. It has fabric seats and a smaller GPS Screen not as easy to use as my current model. The seats were not automatic as my current Prius, and cannot be adjusted to be higher (just forward/backward). I am very short so could barely see over the steering wheel with these seats. The car did drive well and the body was in good condition.Jun 30, 2021

I bought a non plug-in model new in 2011, and wrecked it on the drive home hitting a deer. A few years later I bought a 2014 non plug-in model, and enjoyed it for a long time. I averaged 54mpg regularly mostly highway driving. Being the year 2021 now, I just bought a 9 year old 2012 plug-in model and I couldnt be happier. Im easily going to be averaging in the 60s with the added mileage from the extra battery. Hypermiling this car even further could get me into the 70s on a regular basis. I live at the top of a mountain so that impacts my overall mileage, but going down in the morning is always a free ride. There is nothing to compare this car to because Ive owned dozens of vehicles both new and used and even after all these years this car still feels like home to me. The experience is something you either enjoy, or havent matured enough to understand yet. When I want fun Ill ride my motorcycles. When I want to make my 2 hour daily commute a heck of a lot less expensive, Ill drive the plug-in Prius. At the current price of fuel, this car will save me a minimum of $300 per month in fuel costs alone. If the car and the job last over 33 months, the car will have paid for itself. That is where it where the smart money is at. I have the advanced tech package, so its got more features than a guy like me could ever need already. I dont buy cars to live in them, I buy them as tools. I dont need heated cup holders and blind spot monitors, I can turn my head and look in the side mirrors like people have been doing for decades. If you want to spend the rest of your life working a job you hate just to make a car payment to keep up with the Jones go for it. If you want to have money to do the things you really enjoy in this life, consider buying a used plug-in Prius and see how many smiled per gallon you can achieve as you pass as you pass each gas station. Time will tell. I had a 2010 Prius which I LOVED. It was a delight to drive and to own: From Virginia Beach it took me to places like Ohio and Atlanta. That car, however, lacked three important features: A backup camera, a navigation system and it was not a plug-in for everyday driving. This 2014 car has all the features the other lacked. I have just acquired this 2014 Plug-in Prius so I am still learning it. It is, after all, new to me. So far, I LOVE this car, but because I acquired it from a Used-Car dealer, I do have my reservations about the integrity of the dealership. That being said, the car, so far, is a dream. The back-up camera works and work very well. The navigation system works very well. The Plug-in feature is one that every person should have. I walk every day at the local Botanical Garden. At age 76, thats very important to me. The garden is 5.3 miles away from my house. The Garden provides FREE charging for my car and the car, fully charged, is good for about 13 miles. You do the math. So each and every day I can go, recharge my car, and not spend a lot of money (none) on gasoline. As a retired sailor on Social Security thats a very BIG deal. I drive this car on the highway; exceeding the 13 mile EV limit of a charged car, and came home registering 77 MPG. Thats a big deal. I would give this car a 5 star, except I am still reserving judging on the integrity of the dealer. After all, I did buy it used at 148,000 miles. Sep 28, 2020

its certainly not a performance car, but it can be fun to drive... or at least
saying that you're not using gas is fun! It's also fun to fill your car with $25
and it actually be full from empty and be able to go well over 500 miles!
The technology is fantastic, the Entune system has continued to impress
me with its many features and ease of use.Aug 24, 2013
