Owned the car for the last 21 years.Rebuilt engine, transmission, interior, suspension, steering, air-conditioner, cooling system, drivetrain, trunk, exterior chrome, brake system - too many new parts to list. With newer style radial tires it drives and handles better than new -very tight steering and road feel.Feb 07, 2015

Without a doubt, the 1969/1970 era of Mach I and Boss's will never be seen, nor matched again. This Pony stays in my garage and will be an even rarer breed in years to come. I'll let my four boys sort it out when I'm gone!Oct 08, 2014

If you have never experienced driving in an early Mustang convertible you haven't lived. This car is all that and more. Irreplaceable conversational piece of the ages. Swift, sexy and sure of herself this car oozes with confidence like no car prior, and no car since. Have you ridden a Mustang lately?Sep 29, 2014

Its a spectacular head turner that's loads of fun, fast, and comfortable for a 50 year old car. I built it to drive from a very original well maintained rust free undamaged car and use it as a get around car and to take to the local show off galleries.Sep 27, 2014

I grew up around this car and never saw it not taken care of, this car is a show room art peace. Nothing else to say.Sep 01, 2013

This is the coolest car I have ever driven. It starts right up, you can drive it anywhere or in parades without it overheating. People try to take pictures of it while they are driving along side me all of the time. I built it over 6 years and have spent hundreds of hours on it.Jun 27, 2013

I bought it with 87K original miles on it from a little old lady (no, really) in 1998. Since then I have completely restored it and put another 55K miles on it. It has won 25 awards for excellence at various car shows and has been featured in a newspaper article as well as serving as a prop in a San Francisco Brides magazine pictorial (the bride and groom's getaway car) and being one of the month cars in a 2011 Mustang calendar. IMHO, this is the last of the first generation Mustangs that still looked like the original Mustang concept. The front end still has the deep set headlights in the front fender extensions characteristic of the breed, and the car still shares the same wheel base and floor pan with the original 1965 Mustang. In April, 2009 we took it on a caravan with Mustangs Across America from home (Fremont, CA then) to Birmingham, AL for the 45th anniversary of the introduction of the Mustang put on by the MCA (Mustang Club of America). The car did the whole 5,200 mile trip without a mechanical problem. We did get caught in a wind downburst on the way home east if Rawlins, WY, however, that sandblasted my poor baby and required about $7K in paint, chrome, stainless and glass. It also survived a snow storm in central Nevada on that trip that had us running in heavy white stuff from Battle Mountain, NV to Reno. The first photo is just before the sandblasting and the third photo is when it was repainted as a result. The car had zero rust when they stripped it to bare metal. It's a great car.Feb 21, 2013

I bought my 64 1/2 Mustang in 1968, when I was a high school senior, just before I graduated. I paid $1000 and bought it from the dealer who sold it originally to the only owner before me.
I know it was a 64 1/2; it was untouched when I got it, and in fantastic shape. In addition to what you see on 'expert' sites, my 'stang had a at least three things you never see mentioned: No back up lights, 4 bolt wheels (I couldn't buy mags for that reason, nobody made them to fit back then), and my favorite proof: When you popped the ring that said 'Ford Mustang' off the center of the horn ring, it said 'Falcon Sprint' on the chrome hub.
The 101 hp, 170 cu in engine had no power and wasn't all that good on gasoline - 18 mpg was typical - but who cared? I will never forget the sound of static from thunderstorms on the AM radio when I was on a date.
I kept the car for three years, until the engine blew up and I sold it to my brother. I would give worlds to have kept it. over the past 40 plus years, I have had many dreams about the car, usually that I found it in the weeds in the lot behind my parent's house, rolled it out, and got it running.
I was sitting in the office this morning and the Beach Boys' 'I Get Around' came on the radio. If ever there was a song made for my Mustang, that was it, Suddently, I was 18, shifting the three-speed transmission, and headed out on a Saturday night.Apr 22, 2012

This car was resurrected from a Florida boneyard 12 years ago. After a great deal of cash, blood, sweat, tears, and more than a few curse words - it lives again. 1967 was the first year the Mustang was redesigned. It was lengthed and widened specifically to fit a big block engine. The 390 was the first to be dropped into these cars, followed by the 427,428, and 429 in the years that followed. This car has the 390 with a FoMoCo aluminum tripower intake and three Holley two barrel mechanically engaged carbs, power front disc brakes, power steering, and the turn signal hood.
Handling is phenominal - in a straight line. With that big chunk of iron under the hood, cornering and stopping are challenging. Reliability and gas mileage are both wishful dreams, but that's the nature of these beasts.
It's a head turner. Expect to spend a great deal of time at the pumps. Almost every time, someone will wander over with a story about theirs or their parents old Mustang/Camaro/whatever. That's what these cars are all about - enjoyment and camaraderie.Mar 12, 2012

As any review is subjective I'll try to curb my bias. When it comes to
performance it will leave you wanting for more in all categories. It is still
more exciting to drive than a modern econobox probably due to the sense
of raw communication with what is going on around you. It is a semi-
reliable vehicle with a slew of aftermarket parts to keep the cost of
ownership down. Having a vehicle with a production number just over
4,000 you're almost guaranteed to be the only one around with one.Jan 26, 2012

How can you go wrong with a muscle mach 1? People would ask if this thing was for sale on a weekly basis. Motors built to about 430hp. And it just sounds like a beast, the whole car rumbles at idle. Easy to work on too.Oct 26, 2011

what can i say, loved it! original american muscle, looks mean and sexy, turns heads absolutely everywhere. classic styling that you cant go wron with. unfortunately mine had the 3 spd manual tranny, which was a blast to drive but not neccesarily practical, however out of all the cars that ive owned, still my favorite by a mile!Oct 23, 2011

Excellent cruising car, car shows, go for ice cream with the family even if it's an hour away. Excellent reliability. Very easy to do maintenance work on, Lots of leg room in the front seats, because it's a GT it has extra sway bars and stiffer springs so it has great handling and with disc brakes it stops great also.Aug 26, 2011

This 1966 Shelby Cobra handles great, is very fast and easy to steer, has no squeeks or rattles. A smooth riding car. The interior and exterior are in mint condition. The car is garage kept, has great gas mileage, low maintenance and is a really fun car to drive. Apr 03, 2011

By modern standards it isn't a very fast and the brakes are about as effective as sponges rubbing on the axle, but it is still wonderful. The handling feels solid and direct (no power-steering), the engine is always ready to play, and the hood stretching out in front gives an amazing sense of theater and occasion. It required lots of electrical work initially, but once everything important was replaced, it hasn't broken down since. The interior is simple, sparse, and a bit worn, of course, but there are hundreds of aftermarket parts to make things more interesting. The steering wheel is made of high quality wood (it even has finger notches!) and makes something as mundane as turning the wheel an experience of old school quality. When it comes to looks, the 67 Mustang is completely unmatched in my opinion. It manages to be elegant, muscular, and menacing at the same time. From inside the car, you get a sense of focus and occasion from the simplicity of it. This car isn't strong on gas mileage, but what do you expect from an old American V8? Between the way it feels to drive and the fact that you want to walk backwards after getting out to look at it a bit longer, this car is fantastic.Jul 14, 2010

302 engine. Great for cruising or or weekend car. Fun at the track and has a huge
following. Air shocks are in mine and I have been told how great of a ride she

OH BABY! this car was made by God himself (aka Shelby Corbra) its performance is just beyond amazing. It pushes a V8 so it gets off the line in no time. Is fitted with a corba engine kicking atleast 500 hp. its a balst to go fast in. Since its rear wheel drive its smoth aroung the corners. hasnt needed any repairs, just improvements and upgrades. This hotass has a slick gloss gray paint job with black racing strips. the milage isnt the best, but what do you expect from a car made in the 60's. its just an American classic. Beautiful, fast, fun, powerful, slick, and pretty much perfect! You can have your foreign motors, ill take the American classic anyday of the week.Apr 09, 2010

really fast in a straightline .70's oversensitive power steering not cool when agressively going through the gears. gas mileage not a consideration. the cars function is to look and sound great while launching from one stop light to the next. which is does great. factory rated @ 290 Hp was low and engine redlines @ 8000rpmsOct 20, 2009

It has it's flaws. It's over 30 years old so it's understandable. It's got good power and terrible gas mileage as you can imagine lol. The pipes on this car are originals and still sound great. It'll wake the neighbors with ease lol. Original 351 Cleveland 5.8 V-8 monster. New everything pretty much. This car has had it's problems but overall it's been an amazing vehicle.Aug 27, 2009

1968 Mustang GT/California Special. 1 of only 4000 built, only made in 1968, only sold in CA. .030 overbored 302 built to Shelby specs, built C-4 tranny, Shelby fiberglass bady panels. Not the fastest thing on the streets, but since it's rare you hardly ever come across another on the road. Mar 14, 2008

With some paint, some engine work, a new heater, all the rust patched and a new hubcap, this would be a show winner for sure. As it is, it's dangerously overpowered and uncomfortably underheated for winter driving. But sure is lots of fun squealing those rears.Jan 16, 2008

In 1967 Ford built argueably the most beautiful cars ever produced, the 1967 Mustang. Today, through movies such as Gone in 60 Seconds and televised auto auctions like Barrett-Jackson, the '67 Fastback has become one of the most sought after Muscle Cars of all time... but it wasn't always that way. The coupe outsold the fastback in 1967 by a landslide. I'm not exactly sure why, though one could speculate that it had something to do with the fact that the coupe was lighter and more nimble, especially when equipped with a 289 V8 small block.
But for those searching for brutish torque and straight line performance, the Big Block 390GT engine was offered for the first time in the Mustang. It was the first time that the Mustang was considered a Muscle Car, no longer the little "Pony Car".
The GTA option was also offered, which didn't officially last past 1967. Grand Touring Automatic was what it stood for, but the GT option with an automatic transmission was offered two years before and continued to be offered through 1969, just dropping the "A" at the end of the emblem.
I am the proud owner of a 1967 Mustang 390 GTA coupe. It's a fantastic driving experience. To hear the rumble of the factory GT exhaust, feel the power of the 390GT engine on a straightaway, to understand the significance of such cars in the place of automoive history, really makes the car a joy to own and drive.
We also own a '67 coupe powered by a 289 and it also is a wonderful and reliable car. We take long road trips in it and always have a wonderful time. The mustang is a comfortable, nimble and overall fun to drive car. Which is why the love affair with the Mustang continues today.Sep 02, 2007
