No matter if its the gas or diesel you cant beat them for the money, whether its for using and abusing or taking care of definitely a road/off road warrior and parts are cheap these days Nov 27, 2022

Just a all around great truck gas or diesel. They run good, ride good, plenty of power, easier to work on and parts are usually cheaper May 07, 2021

Love this Diesel truck, great on the highway! Does need improvements in stock form, but luckily the aftermarket world has you covered. Be prepared to spend lots of money compared to a little 4 cyl. truck. Also everything is heavy-duty! Beats the gas powered trucks hands down in mileage, power, and engine life!Jul 09, 2014

This truck is loaded with everything on it that you could order. I bought it new in 2003. this is a great riding reliable comfortable truck. I've maintained it perfectly since it was new. I have had very little problems with it. I hope every truck I own from chevrolet in the future is as good as this one. Even with 250,000 miles on it I'm looking for many more miles. Jun 08, 2014

The LLY is a good reliable duramax engine. Not has powerful as a LBZ (2006.5-2007) but decent fuel milage and it doesnt have all the emission crap on it. The LLY was proned to overheating, which is easily fixed by adding a cold air intake, which I did. Mar 01, 2014

Lots of muscle and very dependable. I got over 263000 miles on him and he never gives me problems. Bought it second hand in 2012 and it's been my best friend ever since. Only major downfall it's no four wheel drive and the fuel economy is terrible.Dec 25, 2013

6.0 liter pulls our gooseneck horse trailer with no problem. Great transmission which does not change up and down while going up grades. Owned the truck for one year now and have had no maintenance issue.
Good dependable truck and good to work with.Jul 03, 2013

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4X4 6.6L Turbo HD LS with the Duramax Diesel has Allison automatic transmission, cloth seats, power heated outside rear mirrors that extend out for towing, dual climate controls, center console/armrest, electronic 4-wheel drive engagement, auto dimming rear view mirror, cruise, adjustable tilt steering wheel ABS 4 wheel disc brakes, and a whole lot more!
My truck averages 20 mpg. The diesel engine always starts well in cold weather. Engine is quiet! Cab interior is quiet and road noise is very low. Comfortable seating, even for driving long distances. Visibility is good. Controls are within easy reach. The stereo audio sound quality is awesome (I enhanced mine)! Brake performance is good. Steering is responsive. Electronic transfer from 2WD to 4WD is seamless. Instrument panel clearly visible and well illuminated during night driving.

I love the Duramax Diesel. The power you can make is just rediculous. You don't even have to do a lot to push over 500 horsepower. Right now I'm pushing over 500HP at the rear wheels and over 700 Lb/ft of tourque. I still get 23 mpg on the highway and I never have to worry about emissions. Oct 29, 2010

I LOVE THIS TRUCK! With EFI LIVE and the Suncoast performance parts its amazing. Sounds awesome with the MBRP Exhaust. Trucks Unlimited in Middletown Delaware does all the work on it. I would drive this truck over any muscle car any day of the week.Oct 05, 2010

With the Duramax Diesel this thing can pull 20,000lbs.Great Truck and works well. I have had no issues with it and use it as a daily driver. Solid Truck, very dependable. Have taken on some long distance trips and have found the gas mileage to be quite acceptable. Much better than my previous 2500 with the 7.4l Engine.Jun 01, 2010

excellent truck, fun to drive, 101500 miles, only thing other than routine maintenance right side wheel bearing replaced at 100000 miles. My favorite looking silverado to date. I had Kyle from www.crankitupdiesel.com install a 5 position tune and now on the 120 setting i get 24 mpg in the city up to 31 mpg on highwayApr 07, 2010

this truck was great, did almost everything i asked of it. BUT didn't like the sand very much! but hey it was heavy and only 2WD! Towed all my toys quite well! Did pretty good on MPG but NOT GREAT! You get what you pay for, i paid for a big heavy truck to tow my toys and it did that very well!Mar 11, 2010

Duramax Diesel with Allison Transmission, the built proof
combination. I want to own one of these so bad. Not sure
what it is about this body style, I really like the look of the
hood. Put a 6in lift and some bulldog performance upgrades
this thing could pull a house off its foundation. Oct 22, 2009

my 2500hd has the biggest motor to ever come from the factory in a stock light duty truck. it sports the vortec 8100 which is a 496ci big block. and it has the allison 1000 seires transmission which everyone knows is bullet proof, and it will pull WHATEVER you put behind itOct 07, 2009

We've has this truck for almost 7 years. She's been a great ride. Always plenty of room, love to fold down the back seats to pile in the stuff for camping. A few problems with the glo-plugs, but they have always been replaced under warranty. Don't put a high tool box in it though, makes it tough to see out the back window. Low profile would be much better.Nov 17, 2008

We bought this truck in Spring and have had lots of fun with it. Hauls trailer like butter. Really comfortable ride. Can't believe it's a truck...feels like a cadillac inside (but with more VROOM!) Wish gas was free! Love to take it camping. Need to add a running board step for shortie me though. Otherwise whole family just loves it.Oct 16, 2008

This truck has the big 8.1L motor with an Allison 5-speed transmission. It will pull just about anything but don't get too far from the gas pump. Pretty basic but built like a truck, fairly sharp turning radius for as long as it is. I have put about 21,000 lbs. of seed on it and the truck does not miss a beat. The Allison in Tow mode really helps with braking.Aug 15, 2008

This truck started out as my dad's work truck for the
farm, and when I turned 16 it became mine, and now
it has 180,000 miles and the only thing that had to be
replaced was the fuel pump at 150000. It is an
absolute tank and one of the best trucks I have ever
driven. The 6.0 is a great engine with lots of power,
and mpg isn't great but not too bad at 14.5Jul 16, 2008

GM's lack of engineering/r&d on their steering systems - steering clunk and off-center steering wheel. You would assume alignment but its a weak idler and pitman arm along with a weak steering shaft. Passenger seat shakes like its going to fly out of the truck!! Other than that - Got to live the Duramax and Alli - Far from stock but GM gave me a good base to work with.Jul 14, 2008
