I have the 99 Regal LS sedan and it runs very well. It is fully loaded/power/leather seats. The only issue I have is the low coolant light which comes on and off then the check engine soon light. No leaks so my mechanic deals with the sensor. Other than that, scheduled service and it runs great for a new antique!Jul 15, 2024

Got the car as a work car in 2012, replaced an alternator, serpentine belt, tires and a battery. Change oil, add gas, done. As reliable as a car can be. Basic maintenance has me at 180,000 miles and I will drive it until the body goes away.May 26, 2015

This car seems to grip the road a little better than its sister vehicle, the Century (bigger tires have to do with this). It has many storage places in the front, and the cup holders are conveniently located between the driver and passenger.Jul 30, 2014

buick regal is an excellent dependable vehicle. The gs has supercharged 3800 that is very responsive. the handling is crisp and road noise is minimal. extremely good value and quality from interior to very good paint even after 15 years!!!Feb 27, 2013

This is a very dependable car and safe as long as you understand how to drive a supercharged front wheel drive car. This car is extremely responsive and is forgiving to a point. If you have ever driven a sports car and you understand how quick a response you get with the steering then you will do fine in this car.
Do not buy this car from a young man, unless you know your cars. It will have more than likely been beat to death, drag racing and probably poorly modified as most kids don't know what they are doing.
Look for any Buick that has been owned by an older person and you are buying a well maintained car and that's where I buy all my cars, from the elderly who just can't drive anymore and I make it a practice to always pay them more than what either they are asking or what the blue book says, know matter what. And why you might ask? For a couple of reasons. One being, most of the time they under price their car not realizing that all those timely maintenance calls in my opinion add to the value and I know that they are giving up their freedom because of their age and that's a hard thing to do as I have an elderly mother who can't drive anymore or very little that owns a 2001 Century with 12,000 miles on it. So, I keep it well maintained even though it's not driven much. Look around next time your out and about and look at the Buick's going by. All older folks, could they all be wrong? Nope, they do their home work. And so do I. P.S. This car is not for SALE!Feb 03, 2013

overall this is a great car, lots of fun stuff that I will look for again in my next car including the trunk access from the back seats, auto lights, heated seats, sun roof, OnStar. Im also loving the silver color.Oct 06, 2012

Other than the transmission (which some of the cost was returned to me by GM) this car hasn't had any serious issues and only a couple of minor ones. The ignition switch went out around 75,000 miles and the driver window regulator at about 82,000 miles. The original battery lasted 8 1/2 years a testament to the electrical system. Almost everything about this car is good or better. A few things are great, like comfort, cargo space and amenities. I get 29-31mpg on the highway, and average 26mpg back and forth to work in the winter and 27mpg in the summer (11 mile commute). The original 15" steel wheels and tires would squeal in any turn above 10 mph. New feet fixed that and improved handling significantly. Feedback from the road is muted by the suspension and steering and noise dampening, on the positive side the car is pretty quite going down the highway at 80 mph. Overall best car I've owned, not the most fun, not the most economical but being good in all aspects has made this car great for me.Mar 12, 2012

this has been a very reliable car. No mechanical problems and rides consistently smooth. It is a generic ride, but dependable. I would recommend for families with children or those needing room for 5 people. this is a utilitarian but comfortable ride, not a sport vehicle.Dec 29, 2010

The ride is smooth and it is extremely fast for a sedan. !40K later put two front wheel bearings, new belts for the supercharger and water pump, and a new water pump which i installed on my own and had no problems doing so.Dec 21, 2010

Great car, handles well, acceleration fast. Found this car to be comperable to Nissen I owned before as far as gas and maintenance.
This is the third Buick I have owned...will definitely stick with that brand! Have been very happy with the Regal.Jan 17, 2010

This is the Camry of North American cars. Just a size bigger and little bit less fuel efficient. This car is the most reliable of the Buick line and Buick is the most reliable brand from the North American's. The engine is responsive and better for highways; fuel economy is average for a car of this size. 26 Mpg with a highway-focused tempo. The steering wheel feels light but the windows allow for much visibility. Interior space is generous and sound-proofing is just above above average. Suspension is soft (too soft). I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a good full-size, reliable and affordable, sedan.Sep 08, 2009

It is a great car with the 3800 v6. The supercharger is excellent for those moments when you want to to take off from corners. Very fun car to drive, and great on gas. I'd recommend this car to anyone.May 19, 2009

Performance is lively in every respect. The drivetrain is as close to bullet proof as they come. Build quality is quite good. The exterior is on the "classy bland" side, interior is relatively well laid out and executed, with the exception of lack of interior storage space. Buick just ignores this issue on most models. Cost of ownership is reasonable, except for the heavy footed driver. This model leads all other Buick models in fun factor. If you have to have a sporty Buick, this is the one!Feb 12, 2009

This was the first GM vehicle I owned and I have to say that I was very satisfied. This Buick didn't have the "old man" feel or look to it. It was a very professional yet quite a rocket with the 3800 Supercharged V6 engine. Jan 10, 2009

This car is amazing!!! =) 3.8L v6 with a super charger.
This car can get up and go. It's a classy looking car that gives the cops the idea your an old man... Swear to god spun my tires out in front of a cop and he didnt even blink!
Never had a problem with the car to date, even though its getting on in years now. I would say high quality and well built.
You can expect about 16-19 mpg in the city depending on how you decide to drive it and 25-32 mpg on highway depending if your on a 55 or a 70.
If you buy this car you will enjoy it, what with the heated seats, sun roof and the comfortable power seatsDec 02, 2008

The car is strong, gets great gas mileage for a 3.8 litre engine. The sound system is good. And I like the multi position electric driver chair, very comfortable. The trunk is rather large and can hold plenty for me. I recommend this car for anyone who commutes and needs the gas mileage.Sep 22, 2008

Despite looking like a boat it handles really well with a fairly high power to weight ratio. It's supercharged for an added boost in acceleration and can really move up those Colorado hills. Mileage isn't too great, i only get about 20 in the city, but I enjoy the ride. It's also got a kick ass sound system, amp is stock but i replaced the stock speakers with infinity reference series so it sounds pretty great. Everyone thinks i have subs but its just that famous low-end off those 6/9's in the back. I like the looks too, its got a very nice paint job and looks really sleek when I've got it all polished up.Jul 08, 2008

This car had excellent hp and decent fuel economy. I actually took this
car to the drag strip and was beating hopped up Acuras. They were
wondering what the heck I did to it. At the time, nothing it was
completely stock. After that, I put a smaller diameter SC pulley to up the
boost. May 06, 2008

My Regal GS made it to 218,000 miles with hardly a repair in its history. It was the ultimate in reliability...until a fire broke out in the engine bay (note: four years later, they have recalled these cars and the Grand Prix for just this problem). Still, I give the car high ratings because it got me where I needed to go without nickel-and-diming me to death.Apr 14, 2008

One of the best Buicks to come off the lot in at least 10 years! It's the first year of the last body style for the Regal. 3.8L V6 engine (3800 series II), 195bhp, Gran Touring Suspension, All-around disc brakes, leather interior, high practicality. This is not a Buick for an old person! If you think it's probably like it's sister the Century, it isn't. Jan 29, 2008
