The worst part about this car is that it is so rare, the best thing about it is as well. It gets noticed all the time and I see people checking it out all the time. I was even pulled over once, for the officer to talk about it. Light and fuel efficient. If kept in good condition, this is a rare jewel of a car.Jul 16, 2013

Had our 2-door wagon since new ($9,000 out the door). Still runs just fine, front seat back latch mechanism on driver's side died, upholstery panel on inside of rear hatch doesn't stay on well, and gas springs on hatch are marginal after 22 years. Other than that, it's been a great little car and I expect to get a lot more use out of it. Handles like a go kart. Plenty of space in back for our greyhound dog.Feb 26, 2010

Although you may visually experiance most Fox's not moving to fast, the manual is realy quite happy to be thown through the gears. I can lay down the rubber!!
Remember,...this car is designed by people who are acustomed to moving down the Autoboun at high speed. My fox just loves to find open high way and let loose with every thing that it has. The 200kph speedo is not much of a lie. My speedo Was messed with by some one,...it reads the Mile per hour numbers as my kph speed. to say the least,...I have pinned the needle, and still accelerating. I am sure that I have been well past the 160kph and still gaining speed when the hwy runs out.Aug 23, 2008

This car was fantastic when I first purchased it (new in 1988). I paid over $13,000 at the time which was bad enough, but the next year VW decided to drop the selling prices of the new models to $8,500. Overall the car was a champ, but I abused the heck out of it. It could easily attain the top speed on the odometer (120 mph) and did so once that I know of. The main drawback was that the tires were narrow and the car was very light, thus in the rain at speed the vehicle tended to brake long. It was wrecked once and suffered many ailments thereafter including a persistent incurable window leak.Mar 10, 2008

This car was sic. Nasty and brown with stickers all over the windows. I rocked this action through high school and around the state while playing for a band. Dec 31, 2007
