I tried for almost 7 years to get the owner of this car to sell it to me. When he finally called and said the time was right for him, I was there 12 hours later knocking the dust off of it and towing it to my local mechanic for inspection. After roughly 5 years of sitting in one place, and the engine never running at all in that time...all they did is put in a new battery and it started right up. Oh yeah, and no leaks! My intention is to have this car have a true color change to black, with a nice clear coat.Nov 10, 2013

First sports car. Got me through high school. Smooth ride, with plenty of
speed. Super fun to drive and race. Easy to work on, but rarely needed,
just brakes and oil. Charcoal grey paint always looked

i love this car !!in my country there were only
two like this i know about ..so it really made
me proud to know that i was in that spot light
....it came with a 13b with transmission my son
and i "kris" and i took out d transmission and
replace it with a 5 speed manual gear box !!

By far my favorite car that ive ever owned. handling was amazing, and it would kill modified cars on back roads. most fun car ive ever owned. the turbo model is far faster than my GXL but i do intend on buying another. Nov 22, 2010

Fun car to drive! Scary acceleration, excellent braking and handling. Good fit and finish, developed a few squeaks and rattles. Looked like it could get a speeding ticket wile parked at the curb. Got good gas mileage. Replacement pares were very expensive $475.00 for a head light switch / turn signal module, $200.00 each for mufflers, and was told by one parts store to stop by Brinks and burrow one of their trucks to go to a dealer for a catalytic converter. The A/C some times would switch to high heat when you hit a bump and vise versa.Nov 01, 2010

Rotary engine, 1.3L, ~220 hp and lbs/torque looks good with body kits very fun rear wheel drive excellent drifting car, i will have one of these cars just a newer year in about a year. Single turbo is better than a twin turbo for performance.Mar 03, 2010

performance: 13b turbo large street port and polish with
Garrett 60 trim cold side and 80 hot side has 5th and 6th
injectors fabbed to the intake also 3inch intercooler piping
and front mount stage 3 mazdaspeed clutch and
lightweight flywheel oil injection blockrd of along with any
emissions stuff too and 3inch turbodown pipe to a megan
racing muffler
build quality: built solid and paintrd decent to for being a
street car
appearance: its nice very unique front only needs to be
painted and the hood finished lol other than that the car is
clean and the interior is cleaner than a newer car
cost of ownership: gets about 10 mpg and takes 93+ fuel
plus 2 stroke oil mixed at 100:1 ratio not many people
know how to work on them
fun factor: 12 out of 10 its crazy fast definitely an 11 sec

I loved the car, it was easy to drive and was only a little underpowered. This RX-7 was my first car and I bought it for $500. Money well spent, as I personally don't think I could have gotten a better deal (as far as performance went).
This car wasn't in too great shape, the underbody had a lot of rust and some of the electronics didn't work (radio and interior lights, oh and the gas gauge :P).
Still in spite of that, it was a lot of fun to drive. It was a pure experience, since the car was non turbo, had manual steering, no abs, and was the lightest RX-7 for that year. I drove it on twisty roads near my house and it always did what I asked.Sep 12, 2009

Great handeling and amazing levels of grip, bit thirsty but when turboed its supposed to drink less.
Great build quality, recently changed the rear brake pads all you have to do is undo one bolt one nut and spin the calipers... this car was built to live on the track and be maintatined quickly.Aug 30, 2009

I love this car....I bought this car when I was 15 years old and have owned it since....The car has a few things going on with it(visual mostly) and I will be taking care of it when I get a chance to...I love it just the way it is so it may be a while....It is completely stock and the base model for that year....The car is soooo base that it came with steelies instead of the phone dials if you rx7 heads know what I mean....But, it weighs less because of the less options....I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!Aug 19, 2009

This is my baby. It is modified with a bigger turbo, front mount
intercooler, new computer, fuel system. It makes like 320
horsepower and is a rocket ship. It is alot of fun to drive. The
sound is amazing. It lacks a little bit in the mileage department

That blow'd up real good!
Was my daily for a while, blew the original turbo 13bt engine w/ 130k miles and then moved and started prepping it for my racecar fantasy.

very peppy overall all the way from low-end to top-end.very good to great handling and susp. top speed of this car stock was more like 130-135 mph. their was a lot of room for mod.'s and upgrades on this modelJul 09, 2009

Only had it about a year, and never got to drive it. Had bad apex seals when I got it. I pulled the engine, but never got around to taking it apart. The shell is in the junkyard now, but the engine is still in the garage at home :)Jul 07, 2009

Sporty coupe sports car with a Rotary Powered 1300cc Engine. Turbo charged and intercooled for added fun. Drove away from the dealership with 189bhp. Amazing handling and drive ability. This is an amazing and unique car that has made its place in history.Jun 28, 2009

No Cup holders are just about the only letdown. This car is over 20 years old and therefor needs attention like one. With diligent maintenance these cares will last a long time. There are only three moving internals in these engines. No valves, cams, springs ect. Finding people that understand how to work on these engines is vary rare so if you are not mechanically inclined you will want to avoid these cars altogetherJun 17, 2009

No one builds a car that handles like an RX7....no one but Mazda that is. Braking , cornering and manuverability are all tops in this perfectly balanced sports car. Cheaper than the thrid gen FD and mor reliable than the first gen, the FC is just right for me.May 15, 2009

The car is balanced in so many ways that it makes it difficult to love or hate so you end up doing both. Engine Rebuild kits cost way too much. Fun factor is about as high as you can get for a car of its price range and it preforms very well when running. The cost of ownership is way too high to justify owning this car.May 13, 2009

The RX7 is a true sports car of its era. Definitely a fun car for spirited drivers. Very high potential vehicle when upgraded, the FC3S can become a serious machine. But be prepared, you must have RX7 money to own an RX7. Classic looks, feel, and dynamics. And you can't forget the legendary rotory engine. I love old school.Apr 02, 2009

the best car in a long time i ahve drivin ii ahve driven newer mustangs thats cant handle or get up and go as fast as my lil 1.3 liter rotary can do and it can handle vary well on the high ways and its like driving a go kart on the road the steering is so sensetive and can handle amzing at high speeds and you can feel comfortable at those high speedsSep 03, 2008

Great car, handles like a true sports car, fun to drive and even funner to drift, light and sturdy. nice body style and i love the sound the rotary makes coming from the exhaust. it's what you'd expect from a 2.5 litre engine or more but is only a 1.3.

Pretty quick little car for only 130HP.
Little 2 rotor engine, non turbo.
It was an 87 with a rebuilt engine, so the engine was fine, but it seemed like everything else on the car was breaking.
It handled very well at high speeds, and at low speeds. Got pretty good gas mileage, when I wasn't driving it for fun.

I have owned this car for about 3 years now, i bought it when the car was pretty much stock and now it is pretty well modified, i have ported the motor and then some. I love it. Definitely a fun car.
It is the turbo model and is pushing about 300 wheel horsepower. But being in the military oversees has cause some strain on keeping the car up and running, as it sits back in Idaho.Aug 18, 2008

Drive this car everyday except for winter, love the rotary power, love hearing the turbo spool up and accelerating into the red line of 12000 rpms (thats streetported). Love the looks and the performance of this car. A perfect car for any rotary lover.Jun 15, 2008

Much more improved car over the previous generation. Sure they are a little heavier, but they have more then enough power to make up for it. Handles just as good if not slightly better then the lighter ones before it. Flat torque makes accelerating feel wierd, no real surge of power.Mar 27, 2008

what to say what to say, its an older car that is cheap to purchase and cheap to get power. Its reasonably light weight and has a true sports car feel with the weight distribution and coupe chassi set up. its one of the better true sports cars for its age. many complain about the rotary engine but they honestly have no idea how cheap it is to rebuild. the motor really isnt a problem unless you mistreat it, just like the piston engine. ive heard of more piston blow outs than rotaries failing so haDec 30, 2007
