They have amazing fuel economy and parts are relatively easy to find The engine 2.5L 4 cyl Iron duke (mirca) are the same engines that they use in every mail truck used by us mail And the rear end is the front end of a AMC Gremlin (Pads Axles Suspension and transmission so on so forth) The front end is the rear end of a Chevrolet Chevette (Pads Axles Suspension so on so forth) so It is a good fuel slipping economy carApr 06, 2023

performance: no power at all the 2.5 inline four was pathetic.
Build quality: cheap plastic interior so it cracked.
Appearance: looked cool and unique
Cost of ownership: Needed lots of work at only 70,000 miles not reliable.
Fun Factor: Never got to drive it much it was always broken.Dec 07, 2010

Fieros are fun to drive because of the handling. They are great on twisty roads. I get 22 mpg, which isn't great, but not bad either. Many owners swap the engine to something more powerful, but mine has the stock 92-hp 4-cylinder engine.

Fiero was a great little car, although it was a disappointment when it came to performance. It was underpowered (to my expectations) and didn't handle all that well. All that being said, I wonder if anyone has been able to "juice" theirs up and perhaps even improve the handling with more up to date products?May 30, 2010

Received my Indy Fiero in Oct '07 and finally got it running last spring. It's fun to drive but still needs to be driven a bit so the tranny loosens up more. Now that it runs, it's time to fix the electrical issues -- radio, trunk release, washer fluid pump, and trunk and front compartment lights don't work. Also need to replace the red decal stripe. But overall it's probably a 5 or 6.Feb 21, 2009

The Pontiac Fiero was GM's answer to rising concerns of fuel and emission standards. The 84 Fiero lacked performance, only available with a 2.5L inline 4 cyl, but could average around 35 mpg on the highway. What the 84 Fiero did do was prove to GM that America was ready for a new kind of car.

No matter how much crap I got for trying to restore this, I still love the Fiero. Although mine kinda sucked these cars are still really cool to me. I love the styling on both the base and gt's. The four cylinder with the 3 speed isn't anything to brag about I think this had a 0-60 of 10.9 seconds or something like that. It's small and handles well of course, but if you want one deffinatly go with the V6 with the 5 speed. I did have alot of electrical and headlight motor problems too. Feb 06, 2008

The 1984 Pontiac Fiero was a trend setter that threatened the Chevy Corvette's niche and was
shut down by Pontiac. Loved by almost everyone that owns one, the Fiero was a mid-engine
4 cylinder or 6 cylinder car that was originally slated to be a daily commuter car. But those
who bought one found it was much more.Feb 02, 2008
