I know of six units ever built and it appears like this one is the best survivor. At least three more exist, but are in worse condition. I drive it since 2004 and got it directly from the 1st owner, who was - of course - a funeral director. The car had been working for two years as a towing vehicle for a funeral trailer, before they commissioned well-known coachbuilder Rappold of Wülfrath to convert it into a hearse.May 31, 2010

The ol Merc was a tank..... a beautiful tank, however a
tank all the same. Absolutely brilliant to drive, just
slow of the mark and not the greatest handling. Found
it to be reliable and inexpensive to maintain. all round
great car.Sep 02, 2009

These pictures aren't my actual car, but mine was the same color! Went looking for an inexpensive reliable car, saw this, fell in love, price was in budget, and then it was mine! About a year later I learned that cars need oil, and you need to check the oil and fill it once in a while. A month of costly transmission repairs later, we were back on the road! Then several months in my sister's garage. And in the end I parked it in an empty lot and wrote For Sale on the windows. Then my roommate lost the key. And then it was gone. Wah!! My beautiful carnelian orange Mercedes!May 13, 2008
