The Variant had quite aerodynamic lines and road holding was surprisingly good for a station wagon. Having a flat four engine under the rear floor gave a lot of space as well as the boot in front giving secure storage. The engine was typical of air cooled engines being fairly noisy, but this did not detract from the fun. We had three of them.Apr 24, 2012
