Love to drive and wave back at everyone. Feels good to finally own one. Becoming more rare. The 57 rides very well and has good acceleration and class, but it loves gas stations. Have considered selling it because I don't drive it enough, but hate dealing with people who try to low ball. It's not worth the trouble.Nov 27, 2014

I like the color choices for this car. I also like the four door design which makes it easier to get others in and out of the back seat. The car is comfortable to ride in and has plenty of room. It still needs some more work but it looks to be minor fixes. The car accelerates easy and it stops easily when the brake is applied. I feel safe riding in this big car due to the heavy material it is built out of.Jul 04, 2013

Wish I had a 4:56 posi rear because it has 200 r 4 transmission would make it more fun to drive . Would drive it across country without a bit of worry a very dependable car I've owned it for 25 years and will be passed down to my grand kids .Mar 27, 2013

Great Cruiser from the '50's. Runs as good as it looks, and is a ball to drive. I am not afraid to drive it anywhere as it is extremely reliable. I built this car from 3 cars that were disposed of.Jun 02, 2012

V8 engine with over 250 HP, including ramjet fuel injection. Build quality is high,
makes you feel like a millions bucks. The looks are superb, makes modern cars
look bland. It's really fun to drive... it's just a beauty, I love it!Jan 08, 2012

Its a 2spd that shifts about 25 to 35mph@. The brakes are org...means they are almost mechanical, drums front and rear. Great look great car..if not a bit underpowered (265 v8) Gas mpg...just depends how much you drive it. Cost<Enjoyment of ownership.Nov 27, 2011

8+half years and a small fortune to fully rebuild from scratch. Black cherry pearl
paint. Cream & Burgundy Italian leather interior. Rockford Fosgate sound system
loud enough to be heard over the loud & lumpy 454 Big Block V8 bored and stroked
to 503 with TH400 trans. 12.6 seconds on 1/4 mile. Foose mags. Smokes (tyres),
Drinks (fuel) heavily! This is maxed out fun on 4 wheels and we love cruising in her most weeks.Nov 07, 2011

What's not to like? A blast form the past. The All-American hotrod! This one has an engine. I love the cam, she lopes in second gear! This car is 54 years old. Just lots of fun to drive and show.Apr 14, 2011

This is my project car. Bought outta Kentucky
in decent shape. I am a complete novice at
working on cars, especially restoring them.
If anyone has advice please give me a shout
out! I'd appreciate it! Always admired this
car growing up!Oct 15, 2010

70k original Miles. Family owned since 1995. Was a 16th birthday gift in 2004. Started a full restoration in 2006. Body work and paint done by myself, Base/clear w/ 3 coats of clear. Some brand new chrome and trim, all the rest was refinished. New Glass all the way around. New exhaust, all new, original design interior. Many factory options. 283 V8 with less then 2k miles since rebuild. Original 2 speed power glide transmission.Aug 05, 2010

The only thing I don't like about this car is that it's not done yet! So when its actually up and running, I'll let you know how this beast runs. I don't remember what kind of engine daddy is going to put into the car.Jun 15, 2010

almost one of a kind. Haven't found another that has the same features. sucks up gas, but I drive about 300 miles a year on her, so its not bad. This car is extremely fun to drive, a lot of people look at you too. Mar 12, 2010

I'm building it now.It needs alot of work but its a 2 door coupe, my favorite car of all time. Its all about benjamins when building these things but thats because their quality cars.Anything of good quality these days costs alot of money though.I like the fact that they were made 100% in america with all american parts, and by americans. Those days are over!Feb 04, 2010

4-door hard-top. Runs like hell! Nice condition, 20" wheels, 350 engine with alu-heads. Rear axel from a 1998 Trans-am, disc-brakes all over. 2" drop-spindles. Moon eyes dashboard gauges all over. Pretty nice interior. Burns a lot of rear tires ;-) Oct 24, 2009

A gorgeous car. As a wise man once told me no matter what car you drive it wishes it was a 1957 Chevy. This car is my Dad's and it is no normal 57 instead of the original 6 cyl it has a performance built 454 from a 1970 Chevelle SS. It has 500+ horsepower and it's performance is amazing in a straight line but i wouldnt want to take it into a corner. The interior is amazing and the outside is even better but the gas mileage is enough to kill OPEC.Sep 23, 2009

The '57 Bel Air is an automotive icon. Instantly recognizeable on any road. It runs like a bat out of hell with an original 283 but can easily be upgraded to have any larger engine. Its fun to drive and is a head turner on the road.Sep 19, 2009

Straight bodied 57 2dr sport coupe, the best shape of this 50's icon car.
The performance built 402 big block / TH400 combo makes sure this car pulls really well. Hae also now fitted servo disc brakes, upratred springs and HD anti roll bar to improve stopping and cornering.
Electronic bypass valves allow exhausts to be either open header or through flowmasters so noise wise, this is a real jeckyll and hide. The wide overlap cam gives an excellent V8 burble on idle and on full throttle the noise is somehwere between epic and biblical..
Gets looks and thumbs up wherever it goes.

1957 Chevy Belair 2 door sedan. 1968 327 c.i. engine with AFR heads, Comp Cams retro roller Big Mutha Thumpa cam, stud girdled, hydra rev kit installed. Turbo 350 trans with 3500 stall converter. Out back, a '57 Olds rear with 4:30 geared spool. I drive it like a rental car. I've broken and smashed every part on this car since 1990. Dont like that? Too bad!Jun 14, 2009

Needed a total restoration. Was sitting in storage for many years and was used as parts for another 57 Chevy. But it was my first car. I learned fast. they are interesting cars. they arent as good as the 58's which i have owned one also. On the other hand they are easier to get used to because they are not as big as the 58's. Parts are plentiful and usualy easy to work on.Oct 23, 2008

Car didn't stop turn or accelerate. It had body roll like
a royal navy ship of the line and had no creature
comforts not even a padded dash but was a barn find
and two tone green. The car had 36000 original miles
on it and hadn't been on the road since the seventies
so the spare tire in the trunk was rotted and the gas
tank fouled but was fun to drive and show off. You
can't mess with a classic. We had the inline 6 cylinder
engine with a rochester 1 bbl carburetor. Sep 08, 2008

This car is great! To bad that everybody dosent own one!it only have a 283 engine, so the performence is not so good. I hope too be able to upgrade to 350 engine this year. The exterior need quit a lot of work, the interior is very nice actually! Sep 07, 2008

The nineteen fifty-seven Chevrolet is the coolest regular production car Ever made. The style is one of a kind and there has never been anything close to it. Popular as a family car it also was a huge hit with the 2 door coop that was very sporty. Then came the muscle cars of the 60's and big V-8 engines were lifted into the 1957 which could accept up to a 454 cubic inch engine or about a 6.2 Liter engine. With a lift kit in the back and "Cheater slicks", you were ready to drag race on the strip. Sep 07, 2008

starting and staying in 2nd gear, with the rev limiter set at 5,000 instead of 7,500. just slipping the clutch and leaving 150ft plus of two 9 inch wide rubber. theres nothing like it in this world. especially when you built it with your bare hands, motor to interior to tranny to welding the spider gears back together after its first thrill ride.Aug 28, 2008

well i've never seen it in my life but, my dad says that his old '57
Chevy is in a shack on the farm in Preston county and this pic is pretty
freakin' close to what it would look like if we fixed it...only thing is
ours is a 2 dr not a 4 dr...but we just might get a winch and trailer
hooked up to my truck and go get that thing out of the farm this
summer...so i'm waiting for the dayMay 27, 2008

It's tough to be objective with classics like the 57 Bel Air. A restored original Bel Air is slow and handles like a shopping cart. However, it's still pretty plush for an older vehicle. The ride is soft and smooth.. probably too smooth.
This is the car that everyone's dad absoultely loves and I can really see why. I never really understood the fin and flair era of American auto styling but this helps.Mar 15, 2008
