This is the second gen6 Celica I've owned, the first being a 1.8 ST, now I've gone up to the 2ltr Gt. Both cars a fantastic, mechanically they are solid! The ST I hit a fully grown deer at 50mph, & it cracked the number plate & split the weathershild underneath, that was it! The GT obviously has better acceleration, it's very quick off the mark, with the rev range going up to 9000rpm, you really get a chance to push it to it's fully potential (redlines at 7500rpm so I don't like to push it further than that!). They do stick to the road like glue, the braking isn't great, however I do need to replace the brakes so time will tell. As already said, these cars are solid, built to last. Some parts aren't cheap, being Japanese, but they aren't as expensive as Mercedes/BMW for instance. If well looked after, these can run for 250/300k miles! The styling of the gen6 Celica is still as good as any current car in my eyes. I think if you don't have to worry about size & space, coupe is the best style of car you can get, similar to the Jaguar XK series, or Hyundai Coupe, they all look fantastic. The Celica still has 2 back seats that can take adults (maybe not for long distances though!) And the boot could probably fit 3 or 4 dead bodies (sorry, it's how i gauge boot size!). Tax isn't bad for the UK as it's pre-2001, so it costs the same as anything over a 1600cc engine. You're looking at around 32mpg so not bad at all for the engine size/power, it runs at about 160bhp, and it's now 16years old with 136k on the clock!

This model of the Celica is the definition of fast and acceleration-ful. The braking is great and the handling...I don't need to tell you for something rally-bred. The car is so fun to drive I felt like actually jumping out of the seat of the thing. The appearance is not the greatest but it still excellently modest. The rear spoiler has plenty of curves especially. The sound it makes is better than perfect: not even an RX-7 sounds better.

The ST is slightly underpowered compared to the GT, but apart from that its an excellent reliable car, good handling and great styling

A beautiful car for very little money. Acceleration puts a smile on your face! Mine was an import which wasn't a big problem apart from the Japanese stereo that insisted that I listen to nothing but Radio 2 - I never want to hear Terry Wogan again! Extremely reliable and very practical for a car in its class. I replaced it with a Toyota Aygo and always had a yearning to buy another one (but a GT4)..... Eventually I sold the Aygo and bought an MR2 Roadster ... Now I have an even bigger smile on my face!!
