Used Mercury Cougar for Sale near Ontario

Performance-Slow acceleration,great brakes,and the steering could be better. Build Quality-so far i have only needed new wipers and a battery when i first bought it. Appearance-nice brown upholstery and the dash has very few cracks,brown fleck paint gone in some spots. Cost of ownership-$500.00, good mileage, cheap maintenance so far. Fun factor-fun to drive, mostly because its mine though.

I bought a 1982 Mercury Cougar XR7 , 2 door coupe with a landau top in 1999 as a present to myself, couldnt beat the asking price of $500 and in 3 payments!!! It had 62,000 original miles and was priviously owned by an elderly woman who bought it brand new off the lot. Mechanically it was in perfect condition the paint on the other hand was pretty well worn. The landau vinyl top needed to be replaced but that was it. I took it to a friends shop to have a the normal maintenance and inspection to see what needed to be fixed. To my surprise the mechanic thought I was playing a joke on him because it turns out the car had NEVER ever had anything done to it but wiper blades and tires. Everything else was stock and had NEVER been replaced EVER. The battery,brakes,rotors,shocks, hell even the oil filter and fluids were the original ones!! Including the air filter, fuel filter ALL original to the vehicle the way it came off the assembly line in82. Once he seen the odometer and confirmed that it was still working then he understood what was going on. 62,000 miles was just breaking in the engine and other components so there was never a need for the previous owner to do anything to it besides tires and wipers. He offered me $2000 for it but I quickly turned him down. In the year1999 I bought a96 Chrysler Sebring LX convertible with the 2.5 ltr , 24 valves S.O.H.C V6 which was an engine made by Mitsubishi, that car was fast and beautfull but it had nothing on my XR7!! That car no longer exists yet my XR7 is still running strong!!!
