I have a 1983 Mercedes 300CD, w123 platform, with the diesel engine. Mercedes spent a number of years developing it before it was introduced. I think this plus its design and longevity, I saw one of the estate wagons sell with over 900,000 miles, makes it an exceptional Mercedes Benz. W123 World is restoration firm in Great Britain that specializes in the w123 and they have published a book documenting its attributes.
