(5 reviews)Very good little station wagon. Acceleration, handling, and braking were all excellent. Got good gas mileage, even better after the belt for the exhaust air pump broke (jump up to 34 mpg). It even went very well in the snow. Had no major problems. Our first new car drove for 3 years and sold for $900.00 less than we paid for it. Family out grew it.
It was my first car..I bought it myself..It was a straight gear 4 speed...it was a bronze color..I had stop at gas station to check the oil more than filling it up with gas..I was the person who drove the most and drove my friends around. I really loved my car. My car was really fun to drive and my friends loved riding in it with me!!
What can I say...it was a Pinto! 2.3L 4 speed. 0-60 mph in (ha! Ha! Ha!) Served us well for several years as a family car. I kept wanting to take it out of the crate but my ex wouldn't let me! :)~
This car was a gift (bless their heart). I would have never bought it for myself. My best friend had one too (yes she's still alive). I only drove the car just long enough to save up some money to buy my Mustang.
I loved that old beater. It looked just like the photo except for mine was more of a gold than brown. It took more abuse than any car I have had since. Not all that fast, but a stable, surefooted little beast. The hatch back was nice and large enough to sleep in with the seats folded down and the front seats leaned forward. I could (and often did) put my go-kart in the back to transport it to the track (or to the mall on sundays). Ran well, always started in the cold, (had to be careful not to pump the gas peddle in the extreme cold as the throttle linkage tended to freeze and stick wide open until the engine warmed up enough to thaw it out. I sheared three bolts off the ring gear/fly-wheel one time trying to hold it back while driving it to warm it up. It only did that to me twice that I remember. Body was pretty good for the era of the car ( I had it for 2 years (76 and 77) then traded it for the Datsun F-10. It got fair mileage unless you pushed it, then you could almost see the gas gauge go down. Overall, considering what I did in that car, It held up surprisingly well. No major problems other than the throttle freezing up on me in the cold.
