Before I bought this car I was looking for an early 70's Le mans that was drivable, but that was original or close enough to original that I could work on it and make it my own. This is when I stumbled across this 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback for sale. I had always liked the style of MOPARS, especially the mid to late 60's, so I went to check it out. After forty odd years it understandably needed some work, but surprisingly the only thing I had to do to get the car running was put a new battery in it and it started right up. Everything from the wipers and horn to the brakes and the lights worked right off the bat. I still went through and replaced belts and other odds and ends as well as the master cylinder but it runs beautifully with under 2500 bucks in it. Considering performance, I didn't buy this with the intention of having a drag car or a track car so it doesn't post quick lap times and it's not a 10 second car. That being said I'm going to swap the 273 V8 that's in there now with a 440 and replace the 3 spd automatic with a 5 speed manual with an overdrive. Even then this is just my daily driver. Rain or shine this thing sees the road and after seven months of driving it has been incredibly reliable. Because of this I rate the build quality very high. Having to replace a few parts after 43 years isn't bad at all. Appearance wise this is one of my favorite cars of all time. Every detail of this car is done perfectly and I couldn't think of anything I'd want to change. I'm going to repaint this winter so that ought to sharpen it up a bit as well. My last vehicle was a 2003 Sierra 2500 so the gas mileage in the Barracuda is an improvement. It's certainly not a hybrid, but it's not a gas guzzler either. Since getting the car up to driving standards in the summer, I haven't had to buy a single replacement part. Just put gas in an it's ready to go. Even in the cold Indiana weather I've had so far this car fires right up. Lastly the fun factor. This car drives like an absolute dream. This car also turns heads every where I drive it, even in its rough condition. Aside from that, this car is a breath of fresh air from every mustang, camaro, and corvette you see at car shows or on the road. I've only seen a handful of road worthy Barracuda's around my area so it gives me that extra sense of pride knowing that this car is unique. I would be hard pressed to think of any other car, regardless of price, that I would rather be driving.

Its really quick for a small block and sounds like a race car especially when you down shift. Build quality is awesome all metal and newly rebuilt from the ground up. appearance wise its a muscle car from the 60's you cant go wrong there. Its possibly the most fun i've had on four wheels next to driving my dads hot rod.

All out dragcar, 440c.i. V8 with a Holley 850cfm 4 Barrel Carburetor. Full Tilting Fiberglass Front End. 727 3-Speed Automatic. 4.88 Rear gears with a Dana 60 axle. It's been a dragcar it's entire life. A lot of noise thanks to the 3" drag race Headers!

Ordered one of these new in spring 1967 when stationed in Europe, never took delivery. Came back to state looked for one couldn't find one for sale. Jump ahead many years. After doing two other resorations (65 Dodge Dart GT and 74 Dodge Challenger) found a 67 Barracuda, original owner. It was not a Formula S but had all the components of an S. It needed a fair amount to body cleanup work; door dings, nicks, two pushed-in front fenders, poorly repaired rear quarter, but way better than most you see. Re-did it ground up. Took to original color (bright metallic red - PP-1) did a red/black upgraded but factory correct interior, replaced 44 year old parts - many were the original factory things - - starter, water pump, fuel pump, alternator, etc. Amazing really the few things that had been replaced over the year - brakes ! Upgraded the front brakes to disc - factory originals reman'd. It is now a beautifully original looking car. Gets lots of attention. Drives like a dream. With the 273 4bbl, hig performance motor it runs fast !! and still gets reasonable mileage. Wiuth flowmaster dual exhaust it sounds better than one could ever hope for. Just added new Cragar wheels and double red line radial tires. GREAT CAR !!!!! Worth the wait to find the right one to make it yours. Part II: decided to rebuild the motor from new crank bearings up, new valve train, valves, new pistons, new springs, etc. Pistons from Egge - really nicely done items. Whole job including repaint motor and underhood back to original color scheme, including the 273 HIPO valve covers wrinkle black with silver/chrome plug wire holders. Looks great. runs even better....

Drove this around town..making all the young men want to drag race me, and the older guys longing to be teenagers again. Fun to drive in an odd classic kind of way. did not met many of the state safety regs, was grandfathered in.
