2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee: Price, Specs and Release Date

by Chris Teague

The Grand Cherokee has been a staple of Jeep’s lineup for decades, and while it’s not the brand’s flagship anymore, it remains one of its most important models. Jeep introduces some significant changes to the SUV heading into 2026 that should help it remain competitive and extremely capable off-road.

What’s New for the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Grand Cherokee sees several updates for the 2026 model year, starting with an all-new turbocharged 2.0-litre Hurricane four-cylinder engine. The SUV also gained a new, larger infotainment touchscreen, a new passenger-side display, more advanced driver-assistance technologies, and other interior revisions. Outside, the Grand Cherokee received a new front fascia with a more upright design, updated headlights, and a revised rear fascia.

Design

The new Grand Cherokee doesn’t look radically different from the 2025 model, but the new front fascia design gives it a more muscular, boxy look. Some models feature large lower air vents in the front flanked by LED fog lights, and Jeep offers two-tone paint options for some trims.

Powertrain

The new Hurricane four-cylinder engine makes 324 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, an impressive 162 horsepower per litre. At the same time, Jeep claims a driving range of more than 800 kilometres on a single tank of fuel and notes a class-leading 2,800-kilogram (6,200-pound) towing rating. The engine uses a range of geeky-sounding technologies to achieve those figures, including Turbulent Jet Ignition, which uses a unique combustion sequence to trigger a “faster and more complete burn of the air-fuel charge” to boost power and efficiency.

Interior

The Grand Cherokee offers a range of interior configurations, including some that rival luxury brands. Two- and three-row models are available. Standard features include synthetic leather upholstery, heated first- and second-row seats, and ambient interior lighting. Top trims get genuine wood interior accents, Nappa leather upholstery and door trim, heated and ventilated seats, and more. At the top of the lineup, the Summit trim gets a range of ultra-premium features, including Palermo leather upholstery, a suede headliner, massaging front seats, oak and chrome interior accents, and more.

Technology

An 8.4-inch touchscreen comes standard, along with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster. Other standard tech includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and six speakers. Higher trims are available with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system, LED ambient interior lighting, four-zone automatic climate controls, navigation, wireless charging, household power outlets, and a garage door opener.

Safety

The new Grand Cherokee hasn’t been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Standard features include lane keep assist, lane departure warnings, forward collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, and rear parking sensors. Available tech includes a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, a digital rearview mirror, a surround-view camera, an off-road camera, a night vision assist system, and more.
