Pick-up trucks are going electric. While Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC have released fully battery-electric trucks, Ram is doubling down. In addition to the Ram 1500 REV electric truck, the Ram 1500 Ramcharger is on the way. It’s a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), but rather than defaulting to internal combustion engine operation as most PHEVs do, the Ramcharger uses its Pentastar V6 as a range extender.
The Ramcharger was originally scheduled to launch after the REV battery electric vehicle (BEV), but Stellantis (formerly FCA) has decided to flip them and launch its PHEV Ram pickup first. Here’s everything we know so far about the 2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger in Canada.

2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger styling
Ram truck styling is somewhat iterative, and that’s not a bad thing. There are certain styling elements that have been very consistent in recent Ram 1500 generations such as the straight shoulder line, smooth door panels, and squared-off headlamps. Most of the styling on the Ram 1500 Ramcharger aligns with the rest of the updated 2025 Ram 1500 lineup. This includes thinner headlamps, which here have a lighting detail that extends into the grille to a restyled and backlit RAM logo exclusive to the brand’s electrified trucks. A unique taillight pattern extends onto the tailgate.
Ram’s information thus far has not specified the configurations in which the 2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger will be offered. Early press photography shows a crew cab truck with a 5-foot 7-inch bed, is expected to be the only option.
2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger interior design and practicality
Like its exterior, the refreshed 2025 Ram 1500 sees iterative changes to its interior. However, there are a few standout additions.
In lower trims, the familiar portrait-oriented 12-inch infotainment screen features a higher-resolution display. Step up to the highest trims, and a new best-in-class 14.5-inch touchscreen is equipped running the automaker’s Uconnect 5 infotainment software also used in Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles. Stellantis pulls from the Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Cherokee parts bin to offer a 10.25-inch horizontal display for the front passenger’s use, including technology that prevents it from being visible to the driver to minimize potential distractions. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is also available, as is a 1,444 watt, 23 speaker sound system with a 12‑inch subwoofer and a 24‑channel amplifier.
As pickups move upmarket, the Ramcharger joins the rest of the new Ram 1500 line-up in offering the Ram brand’s premium Tungsten trim. This includes an indigo and sea salt interior, dual-textured platinum metal accents, diamond knurling, a suede-wrapped headliner, and quilted Natura Plus leather front seats with 24-way power, memory settings, and a massage function. Tungsten trucks also feature a crystal-effect shifter centre cap, a 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system, new dual wireless chargers, and metal pedals.
One of our favourite new features in the Ramcharger is its ability to deliver power to outside sources. Ram matches the Ford F-150 Lightning by offering an onboard power panel in the truck’s bed that can deliver up to 7.2 kW.
2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger hybrid, engines and drive
Is the Ram 1500 Ramcharger a plug-in hybrid? Sort of, but not as we’ve come to know PHEVs. The powertrain includes a 92-kWh battery pack with a 3.6-litre V6 engine, but the truck needs to be plugged in and charged to work optimally. Most of today’s PHEVs use the battery to power electric motors which deliver power to the wheels at the same time as the gas engine. Here, the engine acts solely as a generator, which means it’s technically a range extender with no mechanical connection to the wheels.
From a full charge, the Ramcharger is expected to deliver in the neighbourhood of 225 kilometres of electric range. In combination with the range-extending gas-powered engine, it will have a total potential driving distance of up to 1,110 kilometres. Using the same front and rear electric drive modules as the Ram 1500 REV, the Ramcharger produces an expected 663 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque for an expected 0-100 km/h time of roughly 4.5 seconds despite an expected weight of more than 3,400 kilograms (7,500 pounds).
A one-pedal driving mode will allow drivers to maximize power recovery through strong regenerative braking. The top DC fast charging speed is reported at 145 kW, and the Ramcharger’s 400-volt architecture can recover just over 80 km of range in roughly 10 minutes. Charging speeds for Level 1 and Level 2 charging are not yet available. The charging port is located on the driver’s side front quarter panel.
Like the Ram 1500 REV electric truck, Stellantis says the Ramcharger will have a towing capacity 6,350 kilograms (14,000 pounds) and have a payload capacity of 1,179 kilograms (2,600 pounds). An active air suspension will be standard.
2026 Ram Ramcharger driver assistance and safety features
Ram says the 2026 Ramcharger will launch with more than 100 standard and available driver assistance and safety features. These include a hands-free active driving assist along the lines of GM’s Super Cruise and Ford’s BlueCruise, plus smartphone-as-a-key technology, active lane management, evasive steering assist, and intersection collision assist.
2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger price and release date
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger is overdue. It was originally expected to launch in late 2024 as the 2025 Ramcharger, but it now appears to be poised for a late 2025 launch for the 2026 model year. The Ram 1500 REV electric pickup will follow a few months later. Stellantis has not announced pricing for either vehicle as of this writing.
