The third mass-market EV from Volvo offshoot Polestar has finally arrived. The Polestar 2 is a liftback, the Polestar 3 is a crossover, and now the 2025 Polestar 4 is on its way with a trendy SUV coupe design.
The 2025 Polestar 4 is built in China. As of this writing, sales in Canada have opened and rollout appears to be at full throttle. However, with the recently announced 100% U.S. import tariffs on Chinese-built EVs and Canadian government representatives not ruling out on following suit, this is a developing story that could change at a moment’s notice.
For now, here’s everything we know so far about the 2025 Polestar 4 in Canada. Be sure to bookmark this page: we’ll update it as we receive more information.

2025 Polestar 4 styling
Coupe SUVs with sloping rooflines are trending. Polestar attempts to capitalize on this with the 2025 Polestar 4, which the brand says is larger than the Polestar 2 liftback but smaller than the Polestar 3 midsize SUV. Overall, the Polestar 4 is 4,839 mm in length, 2,139 mm in width, and 1,544 mm in height with a 2,999 mm wheelbase.
The Polestar 4 gets an illuminated logo and a distinct headlight signature that’s only vaguely reminiscent of Volvo’s Thor’s Hammer design the brand started with on its earliest designs. It carries many of the styling cues that are becoming common on EVs, mostly geared toward aerodynamic efficiency, such as a low nose, retractable door handles, frameless windows, rear air blades, and a rear light bar framed with airflow optimization. Aerodynamic 20-inch alloy wheels are standard, while 22-inch wheels are available.
2025 Polestar 4 interior design and practicality
The Polestar brand continues to promote sustainability in its interior materials. New selections include a tailored knit upholstery made from 100 percent recycled PET, along with MicroTech vinyl produced with pine oil and responsibly sourced Nappa leather. Floor carpets are made with a material woven from reclaimed fishing nets.
A 15.4-inch landscape-oriented infotainment system runs Google built-in, which integrates Google Assistant, Google Maps and downloadable apps via Google Play directly into the vehicle. Apple CarPlay is also included, though integration isn’t as seamless for iPhone users. A 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and available 14.7-inch head-up display complete the technology setup. The Polestar 4 can accept over-the-air updates. Premium Harman Kardon audio system with 12 or 16 speakers are optional.
One of the quirkiest things about the Polestar 4 is that the brand has opted to drop its rear glass entirely. Instead, the analog rearview mirror is replaced with a high-definition digital camera mirror that shows a live feed from camera mounted on the rear roof. Polestar claims this will offer a wider field of vision, but we’re left wondering how well it will perform in a blizzard. Second-row passengers will receive light from the standard panoramic glass roof, which extends far backward in the cabin. Optional electrochromic functionality lets occupants switch between light and shade in a near instant.
A heat pump is standard in Canada, which is a positive because this energy-saving equipment hasn’t always been a default on Polestars here in Canada. Electronically latching doors, a power operated tailgate with soft close, wireless phone charging, and an 8-way power driver seat and 6-way power passenger seat are also standard.
2025 Polestar 4 engines, motors and drive
In Canada, two versions of the Polestar 4 will be available at launch. The Long-range Single motor variant has a single motor mounted to the rear axle for rear-wheel drive (RWD). Power rates at 272 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque with an estimated EPA range target of 483 km. Canadian testing is more rigorous to reflect our climate, so expect range figures for our market to be slightly lower.
On the Polestar 4 Long-range Dual motor, a pair of motors achieve a maximum power output of 544 hp and 506 lb-ft of torque, with a 0-100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds.
A 100-kWh battery is used on both long range versions, capable of accepting recharge speeds of 200 kW at a Level 3 charger and 11 kW on Level 2 charging.
2025 Polestar 4 price and release date
In Canada, the 2025 Polestar 4 will be priced from $67,600 for the Long-range Single motor and $77,600 for the Long-range Dual motor, including destination charges of $2,700. Four different optional packages are available: Pilot Pack, Pro Pack, and Plus Pack. On the Long-range Dual motor, the Pilot Pack is standard and a version is available with both the Plus Pack and the dual-motor exclusive Performance Pack. This will put the Polestar 4 outside the threshold for federal and provincial EV rebate programs.
Production and first deliveries began in China late in 2023, and the Polestar 4 has begun shipping to Europe and Australia. Online sales are under way in Canada with North American production slated to begin in the third quarter of 2024. Canadians will begin to receive deliveries in the fourth quarter of this year.
