2026 Jeep Recon: Price, Specs and Release Date

by Stephanie Wallcraft

Is the world ready for the all-electric Jeep Recon? Is there demand for a Wrangler-esque off-roader that runs solely on electrons? We’re about to find out as Jeep prepares the 2026 Jeep Recon battery electric vehicle for market. First teased back in the summer of 2022, the Recon is rapidly approaching its day in the sun.

Originally it appeared Stellantis was on track to deliver a 2025 Jeep Recon, but the automaker is now targeting a 2026 launch as its priorities have shifted away from dedicated EVs. Here’s everything we know so far about the all-new 2026 Jeep Recon EV. Be sure to bookmark this page: we’ll update it as we receive more information.

2026 Jeep Recon in Canada: What we know so far

2026 Jeep Recon styling

The Jeep Recon strikes a styling balance between rugged off-roader and EV without sliding all the way into Wrangler territory. It sports an illuminated version of the brand’s trademark seven-slot grille along with similarly styled U-shaped daytime running lights. A boxy, rugged appearance makes a first impression, while subtle blue accents on the tow hooks and badging hint at its electric underpinnings.

Although it’s not intended to be an electric replacement for the Wrangler, the 2025 Jeep Recon comes with many of the same outdoor-oriented features. The doors can be removed, the rear quarter windows and back glass can open, and a one-touch sliding roof creates an open-air feel.

2026 Jeep Recon interior design and practicality

As of this writing, no interior preview of the Jeep Recon is available. We doubt Jeep would choose the Recon for launching anything revolutionary, though—the brand will likely save its best for the all-electric Wrangler, which is rumoured for a 2027 release. Instead, we think the Recon will be reminiscent of the modern-day Wrangler, including the 12.3-inch infotainment screen running the Uconnect operating system along with washable materials and mesh inserts.

2026 Jeep Recon engines, motors and drive

Rather than being based on a body-on-frame setup, the 2026 Jeep Recon shares the STLA Large platform with the new zero-emission electric muscle car family from Dodge. It’s also expected to have four-wheel independent suspension rather than solid axles. This means a few things: while it has baked-in off-road capabilities, it’s not intended to be a Wrangler replacement, and it should have better on-road manners than the brand’s most rugged offerings. Jeep Canada’s preview site states that the Recon will be available with a Trail Rated badge with its MOAB and off-road packages. Trim levels also haven’t been announced, though we could see traditional Jeep variants such as Willys, Sahara, High Altitude, and/or Rubicon.

We expect, at minimum, a two-motor setup for all-wheel drive (as opposed to the Wrangler’s true four-wheel drive). Jeep has stated the Recon will come with e-lockers, which means it’s likely there will be three or four motors to give this off-road focused Jeep individual wheel control. Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction control system, all-terrain tires, underbody protection, and tow hooks are all expected to be on the option sheets.

No specifics on the 2026 Jeep Recon’s powertrain have been forthcoming as of this writing. We do know Jeep has hinted to being flexible regarding what goes under the Recon’s hood, so it’s possible there could be a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version along the lines of the Wrangler 4xe offered alongside the confirmed fully electric model. However, this detail has also not yet been confirmed.

2026 Jeep Recon price and release date

It now looks more likely the model year 2026 Jeep Recon will arrive at Canadian dealerships sometime in late 2025. No official hints have been given on pricing as of this writing, though now that there’s less pressure to qualify for EV incentive programs, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Recon’s starting price land somewhere in the low-$70,000 range. That’s still a bargain relative to Jeep’s only other electric SUV, the Jeep Wagoneer S, which has a $90,000-plus MSRP and is more closely compared to the Jeep Grand Cherokee crossover than the Wrangler. In its most capable formats, though, the Recon could certainly nudge into that same territory.
