2025 Honda Civic Hybrid: Price, Specs and Release Date

by Stephanie Wallcraft

Here’s some good news for the fuel economy conscious among us. The Honda Civic Hybrid is returning to Canada after a 10-year hiatus as part of a refresh on Honda’s compact car for the 2025 model year.

As Honda joins the rest of the industry by leaning into electrification, this launch is a big deal. The automaker expects the new Civic Hybrid to make up roughly 60% of all Civic sales in Canada in relatively short order (and take on the Toyota Prius and Corolla hybrid). Could this change turn the Civic’s fortunes around and return it to top spot as the best-selling car in Canada?

Here’s everything we know so far about the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid in Canada. Be sure to bookmark this page: we’ll update it as we receive more information.

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid styling

The Honda Civic Hybrid models—there will be a Civic sedan hybrid as well as a hatchback— will receive the same exterior as the rest of the Civic line-up, which is undergoing some upgrades for 2025. Each Civic will receive a redesigned and more aggressive front fascia and grille, and new darker taillights. Three new exterior paint colours are available: Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Grey Pearl, and Blue Lagoon Pearl.

Hybrid-powered trims will be distinguished by a body-coloured headlight garnish and front lower spoiler, and a new machine-finished wheel design for the new hybrid-only Sport Touring trim.

The Honda Civic Hybrid will be sold in two trim levels, which will top the nameplate’s range. On the lower Civic Hybrid Sport trim, the seats feature a new contrasting stripe design. Sport Hybrid models get heated front seats, a heated leather steering wheel and dual-zone climate control.

The Civic Sport Touring Hybrid trim comes with leather seats, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system is the only one in the Civic line-up that will offer Google Built-in, a first for any Civic. This integrates Google Assistant, Google Maps, and more apps downloadable via Google Play directly into the vehicle’s infotainment. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring is also still available, as is a wireless smartphone charger.

Meanwhile, the Honda Civic Hybrid also comes with the full Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance and safety tech, which includes Blind Spot with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and adaptive cruise control and the Collision Mitigation Braking System on all cars.

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid engines, motors and drive

The hybrid system that will power the new Honda Civic Hybrid is a version of the system found in the Honda Accord Hybrid, which pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors and running through a CVT automatic transmission. In this application, the two-motor hybrid produces 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque.

This makes the Honda Civic Hybrid the most powerful Civic ever built apart from the Civic Type R. As in the Honda CR-V Hybrid, steering wheel mounted paddles allow the driver to select from four levels of regenerative braking, an unusually complex feature for a hybrid without a plug.

On the Honda Civic Hybrid Sport, Honda is estimating a combined fuel consumption average of 4.8 litres per 100 kilometres, while the Honda Civic Hybrid Sport Touring will average 4.9 L/100 km. This is a full 2 L/100 km improvement over versions of the Civic powered by the 2.0-litre engine in terms of fuel efficiency, which continues to be the standard powertrain in gas-only Civic models.

Will the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid be built in Canada?

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid sedan will be assembled alongside gas-powered Civics at Honda of Canada Mfg. in Alliston, Ontario. The 2025 Civic Hatchback Hybrid will be built in Greensburg, Indiana.

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid price and release date

Production of the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid sedan began in June with Honda Canada’s first units arriving at Canadian dealerships in July. The new Civic Hatchback Hybrid joins the Honda Civic sedan on sales floors from late summer 2024. The 2025 Honda Civic will be available in Canada in four trim levels: the sedan-only LX and the Sport will be gas-only, while the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid top the range. MSRP pricing comes in at $33,300 for the Sport Hybrid sedan and $36,800 for the Sport Touring Hybrid. The hatchback versions of the new vehicles are $1900 more for each trim level.
