The 2025 BMW M5 Touring has landed in Canada, marking the first time an M5 wagon has ever sold in our market. No wagon version of the M5 has been produced at all since 2007, and even those were only ever available overseas. This high-performance wagon is one of the most hotly anticipated cars of 2025. We sincerely hope North Americans don’t squander this opportunity and these cars sell out in a heartbeat.
According to BMW Canada, the decision to bring Munich’s finest performance wagon to Canada was made based off an online poll. When the automaker asked on social media whether the public would support an M5 Touring, the answer was “record-high engagement” and more than 7,200 positive responses. (We hate to be cynics, but we think the decision was already made long before the question was posed. Still, it’s a fun way to make an announcement.)
The 2025 BMW M5 Touring competes with Audi RS 6 Avant, Porsche Panamera, and the all-electric Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo. Here’s everything we know so far about the 2025 BMW M5 Touring in Canada. Be sure to bookmark this page: we’ll update it as we receive more information, including our impressions once we’ve completed a test drive.

2025 BMW M5 Touring styling
The primary distinguishing factor in the 2025 BMW M5 Touring is its wagon body style, and the M car is the only version of the 5 Series expected to reach our shores in this format.
It carries many of the styling elements found in BMW’s other recently redesigned vehicles, particularly the M5 sports sedan to which it’s closely related. It features flush door handles and inclined headlamps that trace the hood line. The kidney grille is understated relative to more controversial models like the M3 and M4 and is available in a fully blacked-out configuration. Flared wheel arches and angular rocker panels give the M5 Touring a low-slung look that appears to grip the pavement, and the spoiler, prominent quad tailpipes, and carbon fibre accents complete the sporty appearance.
2025 BMW M5 Touring interior design and practicality
The M5 Touring’s interior look much like that of the current generation of BMW vehicles. Ambient lighting sits behind crystalline-look panels on the dashboard and front door panels. A pair of screens for the digital instrument cluster infotainment system are housed behind a single, curved pane. The minimalist centre console houses a low-profile gear selector toggle and a rotary controller for the BMW iDrive infotainment system, which includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A wireless charger is standard equipment.
M logos permeate the interior, and traditional M components such as the M multifunction front seats and the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and custom drive mode selectors. Four standard interior colourways are available — including black, orange/black, red/black, and grey/black — and two BMW Individual interiors can be optioned in black/violet or navy/grey Merino leather.
The wagon body style gives the M5 Touring 500 litres of cargo space when the rear seats are up and 1,630 litres when them folded.
2025 BMW M5 Touring engine and drive
The 2025 BMW M5 comes with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain by default. With the 4.4-litre M Twinpower Turbo V8 engine and extra power applied by the M hybrid electric motors, the M5 Touring delivers a blistering 717 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, and it also offers zero-emission electric driving with 40 kilometres of electric range from a full charge.
Many driving experience enhancing features are standard, including BMW’s eight-speed M Steptronic sport automatic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive system, an active M differential, a four-wheel adaptive suspension, rear-wheel steering, staggered wheels, and BMW M compound brakes with carbon ceramic brakes available as an option. As is typical of M vehicles, many attributes of the car’s driving dynamics are customizable, including suspension stiffness, steering and braking response, and — in the case of this plug-in hybrid — the regenerative braking’s energy recovery level. These settings can be saved into custom configurations accessible through the M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel.
2025 BMW M5 Touring price and release date
Orders for the 2025 BMW M5 Touring began in January 2025. Canadian pricing starts at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $138,000. Add on the $2,555 destination charge, a slate of dealer fees, and the federal government’s luxury tax, and that brings the all-in price to just under $150,000, and that’s before you start adding options. This pricing certainly lands the M5 Touring within a niche, the success of which is yet to be determined.
