if a fuel pump has gone bad will the car start at all

been told fuel pump is bad not working
but have got the car started but it only
ran for a couple of seconds three
different times

If fuel pump is gone bad no vehicle will not start but if fuel pump is going bad a sign of starting sometimes and poor gas mileage is telling you fuel pump needs to be replaced.
