Why would the awd released light be on in my 2003 Pontiac Aztez

The light has been on for about 3 weeks. The truck is running the same,

It should indicate your All Wheel Drive (AWD) is not engaged ... that's normal because if you get into bad weather and one of the the wheels senses lost traction ... the AWD should engage
