I was wonderding if the a/c compressor belt drives any other component in the engine, and if the compressor locks up would i be able to cut the belt and drive on?
1996 plymouth neon 2.0 4cyl. compressor making a grinding noise and it is too expensive to fix.
If I recall correctly the Neons use a single serpentine belt, which means if you cut it or took it off your alternator, power steering, and etc. would not be functional and you wouldn't get very far. If your Neon has dual belts, one most likely controls alternator and A/C or power steering and A/C, neither of which you could disconnect and still drive.
