2000 Nissan Maxima 84,000

Asked by Joslyn Feb 10, 2019 at 10:33 AM about the 2000 Nissan Maxima SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2000 Nissan Maxima shuts off after I start it up
in the morning when it’s cold outside. Often times I
have to rev the engine for it to stay on when it’s
cold. If I stop at a stop sign before it has heated up
it shuts off and I have to restart it. After restating it
a few times it smells like gas but stays on when
warmed up. What could be the issue?

vacuum leak if it happens in the cold temps. vacuum leaks are more problematic in cold season than warm. look near the air intake duct the rubber could be cracked. a small crack can cause the symptoms you are describing
