My 2003 Eclipse turns off when I press on the gas?

Question type: General

My car is an automatic. When I
switch the gear to reverse, it turns off
once I press on the gas. Same thing
when I switch to drive. It'll only go if I
press on the gas lightly. What could
this be?

It might be your torque converter clutch going, it's engaging at too low an RPM and stalling the motor. This is just a guess based on the rather limited info at hand.
