Will I need to replace radiator if water keeps coming out of it continually?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi! Last night I was driving home and all of a sudden the car started to make a noise - then just before I pulled over I saw a steam coming from the left side of the bonnet - I then looked at the dash and the temperature gauge was reading quite high - I waited for it to cool down somewhat and then because I needed to get the car back home - I filled it with water - had no coolant - managed to get it home - car was still drivable - it was night time so I couldn't see where the water was leaking from - anyhow this morning I went to check it again and fill it up with water - I noticed it was leaking water from the top of the radiator - I also felt the cap of the radiator was a bit oily - don't know if that would be a big concern. Thanks Tmor

Yes if radiator is leaking, change it,or have it repaired, and the oily substance may have been oil, check it again, and if oil is in water, you may have blew a head gasket when it ran hot, hope there is no oil in the radiator,,good luck with it.

The same thing happen to mines but my dad towed it home i put a new radiator on it with new hose still wont start
