Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Will an engine from 3rd gen eclipse fit in a 4th gen
if it's the same engine or will the wiring harness be
different? If so, how difficult will it be to install the
compatible wiring harness? I have an 06 eclipse
with a 2.4 that dropped compression and is now
knocking, I found an 01 and 03 with good engines,
just wondering how bad is gonna be to
swap/replace the engine.

your automobile will never pass an emissions test with an older motor in it, my advice to you is replace all components from an identical vehicle, I would also consider letting it go and replacing with a new automobile

Thank you, I don't have to pass emissions I live. I'm considering getting rid of it and starting over with a new vehicle, just wondering if it will fit.

having to go to these extremes to keep an automobile running is silly, a new vehicle will cost you less to use
