bring #1 piston to top dead center. [remove spark plug , insert long long wooden dowel , turn engine till piston is on top , the 2 cam gear timing marks will be at 12 o' clock ] the distributor will only go on one way with the rotor pointing to the #1 plug . . turn distributor slightly so rotor points to were the # 1 plug wire would be . You should be able to start the motor . You will need a timing light now . connect timing light to coil wire [ on a 4 cylinder eng. they all fire at the same T.C.and you get more flashes ] Find timing mark on pully and pointer on cover . My Capri runs best at 12 degrees advance [remove vaccumm advance first ]
