1997 mercury cougar xr7 V8

I have 1997 Mercury Cougar Xr7 V8 RWD.
1st and 2nd gear work great but it won't shift into
3rd or 4th gear.
I've changed the transmission fliud and filter with
Mercon. I've replaced the neutral safety switch and
Vehicle speed sensor (aka range sensor).
Anyone have any other ideas??

I'd say it's time for a transmission mechanic to look at it. A loss of 3rd and 4th is probably related to the overdrive. I would say it's Transmission rebuild time.
